Real Doll Sizing Guide (Clothes)

Post by Abyss »

Hi Everyone!!

We love Amanda!! She spent a ton of time putting this chart together this week!! Hope you will find it useful :)

Can we get a sticky on this?

REAL DOLL SIZING GUIDE

We know that finding clothing that fits your doll can be a difficult task, so in order to lessen the stress of finding the right sizes we’ve created this sizing guide. It is broken down by body type, and will feature measurements, actual clothing sizes (American), shoe sizes, and helpful hints for the best way to dress each one.

BODY 1
Measurements: 35-24-34
Height: 5’6”
Shoe size: 7-8*
Dress size: Small-Medium, 4-6**

*Shoe size can vary a little with the dolls. When purchasing closed toe shoes or boots, it’s best to buy a larger size (ie – 8) so as not to crush the toes. For open toe shoes or sandals you should go for the smaller size as it will both look and fit better.

** Body 1 is tall and thin, so smaller sizes will fit just fine. When in doubt, go with a larger size so as to avoid compression marks and for ease of dressing the doll, but you should never need anything larger than a 6.

TIP: Stockings make dressing the doll MUCH easier. You should invest in several pairs of thigh high stockings (they are much easier to put on a doll than full pantyhose) in various colors. Nude stockings are ideal for when you don’t want the appearance of stockings with your doll’s outfit. Stockings will soon be available for sale on our website.

BODY 2

Measurements: 34-23-32
Height: 5’1”
Shoe size: 5-6-7*
Dress size: Extra small-Small, 2-4**

*Body 2 has extremely small feet. Depending on the shoe manufacturer she will fit some size 5 shoes (but only open toe or sandals – do not attempt to fit closed toe size 5 shoes on). Closed toe shoes may be purchased in either size 6 or 7, but 7 will always be a bit large. Size 7 is a safe bet for boots.

**Body 2 can wear Extra small on bottom due to the small hip size, but due to the larger breasts you will need to buy a larger sized top. If you are buying single pieces such as dresses, opt for the larger size.

BODY 3

Measurements: 38-26-36
Height: 5’5”
Shoe size: 7-8*
Dress size: Medium-large, 6-8**

*Body 3 can wear size 7 in open toe shoes, but needs size 8 for closed toe and boots.

**Body 3 is our second largest body, but it still doesn’t need particularly large clothes. Due to the large breast size you may find it easier to purchase a size 8 or large for tops and size medium or 6 for the bottom. For full pieces like dresses opt for the larger size.

BODY 4

Measurements: 30-23-33
Height: 4’10”
Shoe size: 5-6*
Dress size: Extra-extra small-Extra small, 0-2**

*Body 4 also has extremely small feet. Based on tests on a showroom doll, size 5 closed toe shoes will fit, but if you’re worried about crushing the toes you should get a size 6. When getting open toe shoes or sandals, opt for size 5.

**Body 4 is very small with unpronounced curves, so it can fit very small clothing sizes. You can even buy clothing in the Juniors department if you like, which will have younger looking fashions. Size 0-1 or Extra Small will fit.

BODY 5

Measurements: 37-23-33
Height: 4’10”
Shoe size: 5-6*
Dress size: Extra small-Medium, 2-6**

*Body 5 has the same size feet as Body 4, so the same tips apply.

**Due to the disproportionately large breasts on this body, finding clothing that fits is very tricky. On top you will need to purchase a size 6 or Medium, but the bottom will need a size 0-2 or Extra small. If you are buying full pieces like dresses, you’ll need a size 6 to accommodate the breasts (possibly a size 4 if the material is stretchy, like cotton or knit). In such a case, the bottom will be too big so you’ll have to pin the material to fit.

TIP: Because fitting this body is so tricky, we recommend always dressing it in two piece outfits so you can mix and match the correct sizes for the best fit.

BODY 6

Measurements: 31-24-33
Height: 5’3”
Shoe size: 6-7*
Dress size: Extra small-Small, 0-2**

*Body 6 should wear size 7 shoes for closed toe and boots. For open toe shoes and sandals, size 6 is better.

**Body 6 is one of the easiest bodies to dress because the measurements are proportionate. The rule of thumb applies here – when in doubt, go for the larger size – but based on standard sizing charts this body falls squarely in the size 0 category. If the item you want is tight fitting or made of satin, silk, or similar fabric that doesn’t have much give to it, definitely get the next size up.

BODY 7

Measurements: 33-24-33
Height: 5’3”
Shoe size: 6-7*
Dress size: Extra small – Small, 2-4**

*Body 7 is identical to body 6 from the waist down. The same shoe rules apply.

**Body 7’s lower half falls into the size 0/Extra small category because it’s the same as body 6. However, if you want a more loose fit you should get a Small or size 2. This is especially true if the clothing runs small, which you may not know until you try it on your doll. Unfortunately there are no true standards in women’s clothing; only guidelines. The top half is a size 4 because of the breast size, but if the item is loose or stretchy, a size 2 will also fit.

BODY 8

Measurements: 36-26-37
Height: 5’7”
Shoe size: 8-9*
Dress size: Small-Medium, 6-8**

*Body 8 has the largest feet of any doll. Open toe shoes need to be a size 8 and closed toe should be a size 9 to avoid crushing the toes. You can still get closed toe size 8 shoes, but we don’t recommend leaving them on the doll for long periods of time.

**Body 8 has a limited size range, meaning that its measurements place it firmly in the size 6-8 category. As with all the dolls, if the clothing you want is tight or runs small, go with the larger size.

BODY 9 – RETIRED

Measurements: 41-25-35
Height: 5’3”
Shoe size: 7-8*
Dress size: Small-Large, 4-12**

*Body 9 was modified off of body 7, so the measurements from the waist down and feet are very similar. The same shoe rules apply for this body.

**Like body 5, body 9 is extremely difficult to dress because the breasts are so much larger than the rest of the body. The top of this body requires a size large or 12 just to fit over the breasts, but the bottom is quite small and needs either a small or size 4. You will not be able to find solid pieces like dresses that will fit this body, because it would need to be big enough to fit the top half and thus the bottom half would be way too large. You will always need to buy separate pieces for this body.

BODY 10

Measurements: 39-25-39
Height: 5’5”
Shoe size: 8-9*
Dress size: 10-12**

*Body 10 has feet similar to body 8. You may be able to get a size 7 shoe on, but it will be a tight fit and it would be easier to put a size 8 on (and will cause less to no damage).

**Body 10 is more difficult to dress than some other body types because the waist is so much smaller than the bust and hip. A size 10 will fit at the hip but will be too big at the waist and will need to be pinned or tailored. If you try to purchase clothing based on the waist size alone you will not be able to get it over the hip. This is another body that benefits from being dressed in separate pieces so you can mix and match sizes.

SOME LAST HELPFUL HINTS:

-When purchasing clothing and shoes, always keep your receipts. Since there are no standard sizes in women’s clothing you may purchase something in the size range we have provided and it won’t fit. Don’t be discouraged, just exchange it for the next size up (or down, if need be).

- When dressing your doll, always put nylons on first. These can be removed once the doll is fully dressed if you like, but it will make the act of dressing MUCH easier. Nylons also help shoes go on much more easily too. Silicone can be quite sticky, unlike human skin, so putting shoes on the dolls takes some effort. Invest in several sets of thigh high stockings; you will find them an invaluable addition to your doll’s wardrobe.
- Most of the dolls do not require bras underneath their clothing as silicone does not sag the way human skin does. If you have a body 9 though we do recommend a bra because the breasts are so heavy that in time they will start to sag. A bra won’t stop this from happening, but it can help delay the process. A bra will help mask the erect nipples if you ever feel like dressing your doll in an outfit where you don’t want the nipples to show through.

This is so true!! My Sandy ( a B6 ) has 2 pair of jeans, each from a different maker, one is a size 1, the other is a size 7. both fit her perfectly!

Thank you, Amanda,

your information is a very good digest.

Although I every would suggest to measure his doll himself because of the unavoidable manufactoring tolerances. And: The cloth size systems are very different in any countries, in the E. U. too. And I suggest the use the size tables and virtual measuring tapes offered by several cloth offerers.

PS: Yes, make it sticky, please.

Post by anonymousrealdollowner »

Just wanted to say awesome job on the sizing guide!! Great job Amanda.

The Flatback Torso can wear most clothes the body 7 can.
bras, panties, shirts, tanks, shorts
Smalls work well, extra smalls on the bottom

Just remember she hasn't any arms and legs when buying clothes..

Hey Amanda!

You might want to revise the sizing for Body 6:
Abyss wrote: BODY 6

The body measurements are more or less correct, But the clothing sizes you have listed are the same sizes used for Body 4; size 0-2 will not fit on body 6. The correct clothing size should be 3-5, which is what I have been very succesfully fitting onto Sharon; and the shoe size of 8, which is what you had included in her crate.

I noticed on the Real Doll website that the RD2 body style 2 was shorter, lighter, and with smaller-measurements than body style 1, but that she is listed as actually having a larger dress size.

Is that information correct?

Hi Skynet,While I don't have a breakdown of details on clothing for those bodies I do have body specifications.

Realdoll 2 Body A
5'3"
80lbs. +/- 5lbs.
Breast 33-24-35 C Cup
Dress Size Small 2-4
Shoe Size 8

Realdoll 2 Body B
5'1"
70lbs. +/- 5lbs.
Breast 32-23-32 C Cup
Dress Size Small 4-6
Shoe Size 7

Amanda from Abyss may be able to tell you over the phone a little more. They are great customer service people and they are happy to assist you with any question you have about thier dolls. Hopefully someone can add more information about RD2 sizing. It is also wise not to buy tons of clothes until your doll arrives that way you can get accurate measurements. A size 4 for one clothesmaker may be different for another clothesmaker. Womens clothing can be a bit complicated.
