Thinking about the stated issues some guys have with Abyss faces (“too masculine”, “jawline is a problem”, “look like porn stars and runway models”), I’d add a couple of things. First, some of these super-gorgeous faces can be a problem because they are simply not remotely believable as girlfriends. My Realdoll looked like Meghan Fox and I look like Shrek, so it always seemed vaguely unbelievable that this creature could possibly care about me even in a fantasy world.

On the other hand, if you look at something like the Orient Industries Ange line, you see lots of soft, kindly faces that look like sweet girlfriends and pleasant wives. They are totally believable in those roles. Yes, they are attractive, yes, they are fully mature, but no, they don’t have cheekbones like Steven Tyler and hot, smoky runway model makeup.

It’s always interested me that Laila is one of the most popular faces Abyss sells. I believe this is so because Laila is the one RD face that is smiling, that seems more approachable and sweet and less like a Victoria’s Secret ice queen that would punch the average love doll owner in the solar plexus if he dared speak to her.

Anyway, I think Abyss has both a problem and an opportunity here. Strangely, Matt’s artistic brilliance and personal beauty aesthetic is the problem that needs to be overcome somehow.

Make me an accurate Minka doll, in other words maybe you could get the breast volumes back up substantially.

It is very difficult think of other application to sexydoll than sex. From here follows that doll must be sexy, good
looking "pornstar". When doll gets my cock hard, then she is good doll.

I hope to be a customer one day even if they don’t change a thing... this is an American company making the best products in its genre in the world. I just need more space to fit another girl!

I would just like to say that I have the greatest respect and admiration for Matt, for his artistic talent and his pioneering work with solid dolls. I had thought off and on about getting a RealDoll for at least 10 years but as it would be such a big (for me) investment eventually I decided I would buy one when or if:

There were some prettier (girl-next-door type) faces available.
The dolls coudl stand.
The prices came down by at least half.
The lead time was cut to no more than a few weeks.
I could buy online using my credit card from a UK retailer who would sort everything out with customs and delivery for me.

...time went by and Abyss didn't do any of these things, but then along came the Chinese TPE dolls. I'm happy that I now have a beautiful doll and only sorry it didn't come from Abyss.

yup, i can afford a realdoll. but sanhui got my business. for the reasons above and for my original post about the faces, i still feel if I won a realdoll as a prize, Id sell it and buy 2 Sanhui. no regrets.

I have owned RD's starting in 2008. I have owned 15+ dolls over the last 10yrs, I have 4 that are lees than a year old and 1 that is 2.5 yrs old. I look into their face's and see a beautiful piece of art, I don't see that in other dolls. There is no realism to their faces. They are just dolls, I am 60 yrs old and I need a high level of stimulation to respond sexually. The RD's give me that and more, its not about the speed of production or the cost. Its about locking eyes with them and realizing a fantasy that is coming true. One that I will never have with a real girl and certainly not with a TPE doll face that looks lifeless and dead in the eyes. Yeah, I am affiliated with Abyss now. But, not because I being paid. I just want people to know how wonderful my time is with a Realdoll.....
A never ending parade of beautiful Realdolls and of course, HARMONY!!

I am going to have to disagree. Who wants an ugly or even average looking sex doll? I sure don't. I want a boner machine, and that's what Real Dolls are. And so are TPE dolls if you are paying attention. They are getting drop dead gorgeous as well, because they are market-driven, so the tits are getting bigger, faces getting prettier, i.e. turning into porn stars just like Real Dolls. Its what the market demands, and so do I. Most people who complain about the way Real Dolls look, probably can't afford one.

I would buy one if it was under $3000,and maybe TPE,But let me put this one out there.I had always been interested in REALDOLLS and RUBY13's. Now that it will appear that RUBY's going away, have you given any thought to acquiring the molds and adding those dolls to your line? Bet they would sell very well,I would sure be in line for one, especially at a price to fit my somewhat limited budget.

Precisely. They are "getting there" but aren't anywhere close to what is offered in scale compared to TPE dolls at the moment; and how can they be when they're one small manufacturer up against a Foxconn like doll manufacturer. Abyss has a lot to update with the faces and currently only have few that are the girl next door type that others on this thread say they want, the at Abyss doesn't really stand out as offering, that TPE dolls cover. And to your last comment, these same people can afford an Abyss and yet their complaints remain the same.

I've spent at least a BT doll's worth of money to dolls this year alone. Still I have the gripes about the faces others have. Was considering a BT like I said before but since the way the Harmony App has been handled hasn't left me with the most confidence in the company, despite Matt's RealDolls being arguably best-crafted dolls when it comes to details, realism and overall quality.

The lack of more normal faces and the weight didn't help either.

+1

Practically, price is a barrier to RD - Ok, it's a premium product, though I'd rather have several other very nice dolls for the same price.

More importantly, facial aesthetics. Unless you're into androgynous faces with big jaws that look like they could crack lumber, it's not happening!
