-- All the things a body needs... Spirit Gum reacts with both TPE and Silicone in the same way skin reacts. It is a natural adhesive that is easily removed with rubbing alcohol.

Aberdare wrote:ok, for those who have no clue what a Merkin is... here's the definition.

A Merkin is a pubic wig. Merkins were originally worn by prostitutes after shaving their genitalia, and are now used as decorative items, erotic devices, or in films, by both men and women.

Image

How does this pertain to Dolls? -- I'm glad you asked...
Short of the tedious task of ROOTING individual strands of hair to your doll's nether regions, or simply experimenting with other alternatives, a Merkin may be the best choice to get that look you want her to have while not causing any irreparable harm to her.

Application...
Using nothing more than Spirit Gum (used to apply cosmetic prosthetic for costumes and make-up) and a small art brush. Position the Merkin where you want it to be (trim as required). Begin by folding the Merkin off the skin surface and apply Spirit Gum in small amounts, Press the Merkin over the wet Spirit Gum and hold -- Spirit Gum dries quite quickly. Continue with a series of DOTS with Spirit Gum until you reach the edges. Do the same for the remainder of all unattached portions of the Merkin.
Removal is a simple reversal using Commercial Spirit Gum remover, which is the best for removing Spirit Gum. Ordinary rubbing alcohol or fingernail polish remover can be used effectively. If none of these are available, cold cream, baby oil, soap and water, and/or persistence will suffice.

Spirit gum is an adhesive, made mostly of SD Alcohol 35-A (the solvent, or "spirit") and resin (the adhesive, or "gum"), used primarily for affixing costume prosthetic such as wigs, Merkins, or false facial hair, like eyebrows, eyelashes, and moustaches. It has been manufactured since the 1890s, and has long been a standard tool in theatrical performances where prosthetic makeup or affixed costuming is used.

I love this topic because in this country: black or white, asian or hispanic, native born or naturalized - we're all Merkins.

I have received an update from the Moustache Parlour. The will also be supplying me with false eyebrows. Another week or two waiting is not an issue for me when it comes to receiving a quality product, and it appears to me that the wait will be worth it.

More to follow.

Sounds like a great idea. I especially like the prospect of false eyebrows- a big upgrade from the painted on ones.

I have to agree 100%... Proper eyebrows take it to the next level.

Due to some Personal Issues, Ron from the Moustache Parlour was quite happy to be able to return to making wigs once again. During his absence, he compiled a serious back-log of orders and was quite pleased that I was willing to wait a bit longer so he could shuffle a few priority orders forward in the Queue. I informed him that I have no problem waiting for a quality product.

I have 5 full sets of eyebrows and merkins in my order now and I look forward to doing a full review of The Moustache Parlour's product once he gets to my order.

Cheers, Abe

Very cool man, I can't wait to see how they look and get your opinions on them. It's certainly a direction I want to go in when I start modding my girls!

Well, everyone...

It has taken a considerable amount of time, but I got an e-mail from Ron @ Woleks, that the Eyebrows and Merkins are on-route to Canada from Florida. I will be keeping a very close eye on my Postal Carrier this week.

I will be doing a full-layout exposé on the merkins Make-over... then we can all have a close up view.

It has taken a while, but the Merkins finally arrived via Canada Post. It seems they were held up by Canada Customs and a series of new Mail Carriers on my route who don't seem to know how to read a route-card prior to starting deliveries... but that is another story altogether.

The Merkins are exactly as advertised by Ron @ Woleks Famous Moustache Parlour. I will be sending him feedback and photo's that I will also be posting here. I have a few other projects on the go, so the Merkin installation will have to wait a week or two while I get them finished up.

I also ordered Eye Brows from Ron... but I will be covering that in another post.

Onward-Ho! I will be providing a photo-documentary of the installation process. For this I will be using my own special blend TPE glue which is a 40% TPE and 60% Xylene solution.

Stay Tuned!

I reveived a message from Ron over this past week-end that he has received 2 orders for merkins... so if it a TDF Member, just chime in here.

Once again, I will be posting a full make-over in the maintenance forum about installation, but Ron's product looks amazing!

Here's a quick preview of Jaquelynne's virgin muffin with a merkin placed under her body stocking -- not trimmed.

Since Jaquelynne is to be a blonde, I placed another order with Ron for a rug to match her curtains as well as a pair of blonde eyebrows. Once again, there will be a complete post for this later.
