What size doll did you order? What country do you reside in?

If your doll was around 100 cm or looked very young to whoever inspected your package it may be confiscated unfortunately, but don't give up. Perhaps I'm wrong. I don't really know what you ordered. For future reference dolls 145cm and up are typically safe anywhere in the world....typically....

This is my 100 cm DS Eve in pink. Snatched by Customs with no explanation. Daily calls to UPS and the agent got real tired of me and gave me the phone number of he sort facility where the customs office was where she was being held.

Never got a reason just a "Your item is being destroyed and a letter was sent to the shipper" (not me, not the manufacturer). That was 6 months ago.

No Doll and No Explanation and a Partial Refund.

This is no fault of the vendor. When you import dolls that look too young, confiscation of the doll is the LEAST you have to worry about. It could be much worse if law enforcement gets involved. Unless a doll has obvious mature features, it is asking for problems.

I'm sure that website ships all over the world so... and I don't mean to be a jerk... you are responsible for what you import into your country not the vendor.

If customs play the asshole here, then its not the vendor. You say your scammed by the vendor, but reading on i understand it is DHL or customs who have the doll. Thats outside the influence of the vendor. So it seesm they have send the doll, so have actually delivered what is bought.

Yeah, the whole process is screwed up.
You have:
1. Vendor = sales person
2. Manufacture
3. Shipping agent = People that package the doll and prepare paperwork for shipping.
Yes, many manufactures do not do this process. This is where a problem sometimes occur.
Especially if shipping is included in the dolls price. If shipping agent gets paid x $ to ship a doll in best manner possible, they can pull accessories and use minimal packing material to reduce weight and then ship cheapest route and false claim value to reduce cost for extra profit.
4. Shipper / Carrier. UPS, Fed Ex, etc.
5. Customs

Would be nice if a doll was shipped direct from Manufacture to Customer. The more hands your doll passes through, the more someone can blame the other guy.

Direct from manufacturer your joking....massive hike in cost....major communication problems...I couldn't even get access to my invoice dispite repeated requests...and absolutely no indication of my tax liability until they had been paid...
Buying from a uk TDF verified vendor such as The-Dolls-House who are supurb will be a stress free experience, all your liabilities are prepaid ....Vendors such as TDH are recognised importers and have far better standing with customs and manufacturers than any individual who buys outwith the uk as they simply don't have the same legal standing...So" Buy from a manufacturer"I did and it wasn't in any way a good experience

One thing that commonly gets overlooked by buyers and vendors, is import and customs paperwork. When I ordered Jenny, the customs paperwork was incomplete and/or missing. In the end, all the problems were resolved, however the delays could have been avoided completely if the paperwork was complete and accompanying the shipment BEFORE it leaves the Vendor's loading dock. Using a Freight Forwarder to get your shipment moving, and at the best possible price, is worth having working for you.

As Noted above; It is YOUR responsibility to ensure your purchase does not contravene any local laws. Customs can reject the shipment and/or confiscate it. They have the authority to do it, and may also involve Local Law Enforcement if they deem it appropriate.

Contacting your local Customs Office BEFORE making a purchase is invaluable, as the Customs Agents can inform you of what you can legally import for personal use, and also for commercial re-sale if you are buying in quantity. If you ask your local Customs Officer, they can provide you with, or direct you to, a list of what you can legally import. In the case of when I purchased Jennifer (my 2nd), she advanced thru customs quickly, and the actual duty and taxes paperwork followed from the carrier, in this case UPS.

Having said all this; Having ALL the required Documents properly completed and accompanying your purchase will save you problems, and delays.

This advice is also a Mirror of what I stated in the post link in my signature... Just my $0.02 worth.

I'm assuming this applies to all uk vendors but my experience of this is limited to The -Dollls-House so you should check TDH took full responsibility for the delivery of my doll.. it was delivered to them and then courier was arranged by them to my home.
