Anyone been scammed with a cashier's check scheme here?

Post by hornytoad123 »

This may or may not be a scam. But a potential buyer approached me to buy my doll without even negotiating. But can pay only by cashier's check.

I prefer Paypal and advised the buyer of that, who came back with that he doesn't have a paypal account. Seems a bit questionable to me. Has there been a case of someone being scammed here in a similar situation like this on this forum?

A measure is the number of his posts. Look at his posting history

Take his cashier's cheque but only send the doll when your bank tell you it's been cleared. If it's legit everyone wins.
Otherwise get him to do a bank to bank transfer and again wait for clearance before shipping the goods.

I have a home based mail order business and accept Personal Cks, cashiers Cks, bank Cks, USPS MO's, WU MO's, Moneygram MO's.

As long as you're in the same country and the buyer will wait for the check to clear your bank.
You will want to deposit the $ in a account and call the bank about 5 days later to make sure the Ck was fine.

Another option (and I have no affiliation) is to use escrow.com. I bought something via craigslist years ago form somebody who was in a different state. The item was over $1,000+ and we successfully used escrow.com for the purchase. We (buyer and seller) split the escrow.com fee and we both were protected in the sale/purchase.

FYI they can pay a Paypal pay request with a credit or debit card without having a PayPal account.
They can choose their payment method when paying.
