Can love dolls have a positive effect on people's lives?

Post by Doller_85 »

Are love dolls designed in an inclusive way? Why men are the main dolls customers? Can love dolls have a positive effect on people's lives?

As a researcher I ask myself many question, but I often don't know the answer. This is why your opinion and experience are so relevant for a research that aim at positively impact love dolls' world.
My name is Egon Arrigoni and I'm conducting research at the University of Trento (Italy), and I'm very much interested in hearing your answers to these, and to more questions.

If you are interested in sharing your ideas with me in an anonymous online interview, please contact me at egon.arrigoni@studenti.unitn.it.
Feel free to reach out also if you have any questions, or if you want more information.

Have a lovely Sunday! :D

I believe so... it all comes down too who's using them and how they're be used. Love dolls are a great idea for anyone who may be trying to get over any type of sexual dysfunction, or just need to have the image of a companion up next to them, due to physical loneliness. They're also extremely helpful for anyone who may be trying to overcome porn addiction and the performance issues it usually creates. There's many health benefits that can come from owning a love doll... just as there's many new addictions that can develop if not kept in check.

In the end, it all comes down to who's using them and how they're being used. But I still don't own one personally...yet, so my impute is limited.

This should be a interesting thread.

1) I'm not sure what you mean by "inclusive".

2) The number of female doll owners- regardless of the doll's sex- appears to be growing, albeit very slowly. I expect that the 80/20 rule, along with other patterns in sexual selection, has a significant influence here.

3) Not only can dolls have a positive impact on people's lives... they DO. With very few exceptions- which can usually be found among the second hand sales subforum- this entire forum is a testament to the positive impact that dolls have on their biological companions. Even people who don't expect it often find that their dolls become very dear to them.

Good luck with your research and I would recommend that you devote some time to searching the topics here.

Hi, my name is maddmatter70.
Are surveys designed to shape data into a sellable format where some can intrude on the privacy of others and twist data into a story that fits their narrative? Or the narrative of the highest bidder?

These are all interesting points.
Even if you don't have a doll yourself, I guess you share a facination for love dolls and maybe you are thinking to buy one some day.
I'd love to hear a bit more from you. Send me a private message or an email if you like :)

1) Yes, you are right, the question is a bit vague. I mean if they are suitable for the population as a whole, unregarding age, gender, ...
2) I have the same feeling you have. Why do you think it is growing now?
3) Yes, I have noticed the strong bond many users have for their doll(s). Do you also say so based on your personal experience?

As I said to King Solo it'd be nice to discuss this a bit more in depth, if you like. Feel free to send me a private message or an email :)

How will your research positively impact the world of love dolls? What do you plan on doing with your data that could possibly affect the world of love dolls?

I've done a lot of surveys and interviews with researchers. They can take up a lot of time and often involve numerous follow up communications. The doll lifestyle may seem like a niche, but sales have exponentiated since the early 00's and it's a big world representing many tastes and preferences. If you've met just one doll enthusiast then you've met just one. I certainly don't have all the answers and I can't speak for anyone else. However, I'll expand just a bit on my comments above:

1) Dolls suit me just fine and obviously most of the people you'll encounter here on TDF. As for the general population, I think that- barring any physical, mental, or financial limitations that might prevent doll ownership- an increasing number of people will discover dolls and explore the lifestyle. Some will dabble and move on. Others will immerse themselves in it for the rest of their days. Some simply because they take a shine to dolls, others due to circumstances and perspectives that make a synthetic companion a more affable choice.
2) It seems to me that despite the ease of dating sites, etc., more people are finding that the "lather, rinse, repeat" nature of frivolous dating is largely unfulfilling. All the while the "battle of the sexes" rages on beneath the surface and right in one's face on social media and it seems like a lot of people are just getting turned off and are increasingly likely to search for alternatives.
3) A quick scroll through any one of my linked threads will provide an insight into my personal experience with my dolls. I've projected unique personalities into each of them and my fondness for them is pure and perpetual. I find them beautiful, fun, and fulfilling to extents that I've never found by any other means.

Yes, especially when the 1st question includes the word inclusive. Dead give away of a established narrative that they'll work the data around.

Please know that TDF Management did check this request. We have been in touch with the student and his supervising professor.
This research project is trustworthy.

Currently dolls aren’t inclusive, but that’s more to do with supply and demand and the survival of business than a deliberate attempt to exclude. But that must surely apply to any industry in its early years? Soap for example was designed for rich white people (the key demographic that had the disposable income to afford it) before bowing to societal pressures and being pushed onto the lower class/ethnic minorities. Once attitudes to the sex doll industry adjusts and it becomes a more accessible commodity, it will make sense that companies will cater for a wider audience.

As mentioned already, dolls can have a positive impact on a person. As can anything that alleviates negative thoughts and promotes positive thoughts. To a lonely person, the physical presence of a doll can be very comforting. The routine of cleaning and maintaining the doll can give a sense of purpose. The intimate relationship can help a person grieving loss.

Again, as already mentioned, a person can create harmful thoughts through their interactions with a doll. But as with all mental health issues, this would likely occur whether the doll was involved or not.

Greatly improved my depression.
I'll make a list...

-Someone to talk to (she talks in my head)
-Someone to always give me a hug n kiss when feeling down and offer encourage
- she makes me smile just by looking at her
-I don't feel lonely with her
-she's improved my depression
-always up for sex
- now more confident in my sexual prowess
-recently has me listening to different music, as she likes a different genre to me

I'd be so lost and lonely without her tbh. I was in a very dark place b4 dolls. Saw nothing but darkness in my future but they brought a little sunshine into my life and now have hope for the future, something I'd lost for a long time.

She my Claire bear
