This morning I heard a stirring early. Chloé simply doesn't seem to need to sleep at all when I'm around. I found her outside looking at the sky

and seeing me

she told me

that it really was best to sunbathe well before midday to avoid sunburn.

I replied telling her that I needed breakfast before doing anything like that and she laid back comfortably

saying how lovely it was to enjoy the sun in the shade of her lemon tree.

By the time I'd finished my croissant she most certainly was . . .

and in a daydream of her own

She came to life

telling me

what a marvellous find that dress was, allowing her to sunbathe topless in the true spirit of the French Riviera http://info-riviera.co.uk/topless-bathing/ so that she didn't have to end up with those unsightly tan lines that other dolls are disfigured with.

Thank goodness I was in her good books again.

The heat of the summer

was long gone and Chloé was looking to see how much her lemon tree had grown,

inspecting the damage of those insects

Anyway, thinking she was going to have a peaceful day, she was surprised to find that

she'd been invited out to tea.

It was a long drive and up upon the hill above Grasse

we got out and she tried out a friend's trolley

but found it easier to walk the steps,

taking a rest sitting on a birdbath on the way

and asking to be carried the rest of the way.

When we arrived on the terrace it was she who was exhausted and wanted to sunbathe

and then started exclaiming about the view

She espied chocolates upon the table

and was too polite to take one when offered

requiring to be served

After chocolate

and tea

she stood up utterly entranced

by the prospect before her

as is everyone entranced

by her . . .

and she noticed me looking . . .

turning around

telling me that I should be looking beyond her as it was such an amazing place.

She found a telescope

with which to find landmarks to show me

but I was distracted

and she sent my Dad into reveries

of living flesh and blood like her.

She seemed distracted

from the landscape

and clearly had some idea in her head

focussing

with great intent

not on the distant view

. . . and nor was I

And then I realised what occupied her mind was

scanning the landscape for bedrooms devoid of her sisters. Procreation happens even in the mind of a doll . . .

Having totted up the number of likely targets

she sat back

to enjoy the view

telling me before long

that it was time to go.

She sat on the stairs

asking . . .

so I obliged . . .

After all that carrying, the next day she was less exhausted than I was . . . and I found that she was up already to get her stick of bread from the shop

doing some modelling for their bikinis on the way

but she slipped and ran back home in terrible pain

bravely facing an operation without anaesthetic

She looked at the result

and decided it wasn't going to deter her

from more escapades.

Wonderful storyline, great pics and beautiful scenery! Glad Chloe is patched up and ready to go again! She's a tough cookie!

I'm sure she'll allow me to bring it back for Lissa, and I'll look at the other ones at the shop too.

After her surgery she wasn't going to let the summer pass without another trip down the road to the Garoupe . . .

I left her sitting on a wall

whilst I went to park the car and by the time I got back to the beach,

she was sunbathing already

surprised that I should be taking so long with the car.

She sat up

wondering how people got so pink

and existing without a tan, looking intensely

but in reality

I think she might have had her eye on the guy under the sun umbrella.

Soon she decided that it was too hot and wanted to go on the water

Yes - a drop of water landed on the camera lens - Chloé wouldn't be seen dead in a photo pastiched with photoshop. . .

and she enjoyed the feel of the cool water on her hands

and then someone threw a ball at her to see if she could catch - but she looked at it not knowing what to do, and cuddled it

She got bored of cuddling a ball and decided it was time to get out

although couldn't resist a few more minutes in the sun

She came over to where a friend had been having lunch to join him for a coffee

gesticulating

to engage him in conversation

and no sooner had she ordered her coffee

than her fan club started to turn up

taking photos of her

and my friend found himself chatting up another young lady into the bargain

and Chloé paid careful attention to the conversation

Eventually it was time to go

as I had a plane to catch

and as we were on our way, another of Chloé's fans who had seen her on the beach

wanted his photo taken next to her asking if I was a photographer for a New York fashion magazine . . . so I told him to search the internet for "Chloé doll French Riviera"

Now if Chloé isn´t the most famous lady in the South of France I just don´t know. She´s met more people and appeared in more public places than your regular Madelaine or Froufrou.
