I use the same technique, but make sure they are lubricated. I read one guys post a while ago. He said he drilled tiny holes in the pupils and he inserts a paperclip unbent to move the eyes, then photoshops them out. Either way. We just have to get the eyes right.

Re: Jessie and Jada's gallery thread (145cm)
I actually used that method for the PIB and 4woods. Works good but kinda sucks having to go that route. I also put an eye drop of dish soap/water mix in each eye for the Pib and they move with ease. I also cut the little knob off the back of the eyes, which helped a lot too.Alottahope wrote:"started using a sewing pin to move them around, very effective, but can leave tiny marks, which aren't easily seen, just looking for a better alternative."

Agreed, adding this combo makes the eye socket super slippery, assuring the eyes move very easily. It only takes a very little amount.spedfish wrote:I also put an eye drop of dish soap/water mix in each eye for the Pib and they move with ease.

Re: Jessie and Jada's gallery thread (145cm)
I have just ordered a DS Doll, so I have recently spent a lot of time clicking every button on their web site, several times. In their gallery they have a video about eye movement. In it the guy has what looks like a glass of water and uses a cotton bud to apply it to the eye to make it easier to move. Is anyone able to say if it is in fact just water. I was going to ask this elsewhere, but as you guys were discussing eye movement I thought to ask here. I hope you don't mind.
I don't think I can link to an offsite .flv so here's one to the gallery http://www.dsdoll.us/gallery.html
Thanks always

Tested the "eye dowel" this morning and ... SUCCESS!! Works wonderfully and accurately too ... without leaving any marks! Just gently depress the eye in the socket with the latex tipped dowel rod and move eyeball wherever desired.spedfish wrote:Yeah, please let me know how that works out with the eyes, sounds like a good idea.von_Shredhead wrote:Hi Spedfish!I have the same issues moving Nina's eyes with my finger ... just can't easily get the eyes to line up correctly ... one or the other will slip a bit and then she looks like she has a lazy eye thing going on. So I don't move 'em around too much at the moment. I made a "tool" last night and will test it out this evening and see if it works okay. I took a thin dowel rod and dipped it a few times in liquid latex to create a soft "tip" that will hopefully have enough "traction" to move the eyes accurately and easily without scratching the eyeball. I'll let you know if it works out okay or not.spedfish wrote:Thanks! speaking of eyes, do you move them around much? I have a hard time moving them with my fingers, which also can screw up the makeup if I'm not careful. Have any tips? I hate to say it, but I've started using a sewing pin to move them around, very effective, but can leave tiny marks, which aren't easily seen, just looking for a better alternative.
My Nina must use the same harder mix too ... her butt is rather unsqueezable (but sure looks awesome)spedfish wrote:Not very squishy, its the harder mix, before they started using the newer one. I'm an ass man, so you can count on me to have some butt shots 90% of the time
Hey ... how difficult is it to move the shoulders? I have not yet explored/experimented moving Nina's ... seems really really tight jointed and I'm afraid to "put my weight" into it!
Cheers,
Von
It is kind of scary when the joints are tight, feels like you are gonna break something. Jessie's shoulders are on the looser side, sometimes they wont stay where I want them to. They should go up, down, forward and backward( 1-2inch movement). My 168cm has just the right tightness, they will hold whatever pose I put them in, the waist, on the other hand, is really hard to tilt left and right, its way too tight.
Pic ... Dowel is about 6-7mm in diameter with 3 dips in liquid latex to make the tip. The sharpened/pointy end serves no "doll purpose" ... was already there when I dipped the dowel rod.
Thanks for the tips regarding shoulder movement and the expected range of movement! Will attempt to use this "feature" in Nina's next set of photos!
Cheers,
Von

The video keeps freezing up on me 10-15 sec in so I'm not sure, may have a hint of dish soap in it, since that makes things nice and slippery.Dees Man wrote:Hi guys,

Thanks for the update!! I'll have to try something like this sometime, I wonder if silpoxy would work about the same or not. Hmmmmvon_Shredhead wrote:Tested the "eye dowel" this morning and ... Hey Spedfish ... I think in the end SilPoxy would work just as good, if not better, than liquid latex, as it is softer and more "grippy" than latex. Give it a go and let me know ... I may go ahead and test this out myself ... sounds like a better idea!!spedfish wrote:Thanks for the update!! I have found that the latex tip ends up getting a bit slippery after a few uses ... grabs some oils from the silicone and gets a bit less "grippy" ... a quick alcohol wipe is needed to renew the "grip" of the latex on the eye surface.
I did some "eye posing" tests in Nina's latest shoot. Aside from a tiny bit of "lazy eye" from not getting a perfect line-up, everything worked out great! I need more practice in setting "the gaze" in the right direction.
Cheers,
Von

That's no kiddin'!! Especially when the camera angle is really low to the ground and y'can't really see "where" the eyes are "looking"!!spedfish wrote:It can be hard to get those pesky eyes lined up right sometimes and thanks for the added info Von. Waiting to see your next batch of pics!!
Just posted a few "teaser shots" from the Nina's latest shoot going on. We're not quite finished yet, but at least have a few "keepers" to share.
Cheers,
Von
