Portraits of Samantha
You can imagine what she said to me when she turned around
In fact she didn't - she just turned back to the view
Best wishes

Re: Portraits of Samantha
Well, that's a high complement coming from you indeed, especially that it's yours who raise Stacey's interest! Sometimes I feel my snapshots are getting increasingly in the shade with the wonderful things that others are doing overtaking me by leaps and bounds. So your encouragement is really appreciated - thank you!mandos wrote:Gorgeous pictures, Harem. I like the first one the most, she looks so natural.
The reality is that it's DS dolls who do it for me! I did nothing. She happened to stand up in response to the photographer's interest and seeing her there with the light right . . . well she asked for her portrait to be taken. And Samantha was inspired by Amnestria's wig, a present from the master of elves, Mahoro. (THANK YOU Mahoro!)
Samantha is a sweetie and DS dolls are so photogenic, versatile too in their movement, ability to be introduced to people and resilience also. I suspect that the competition from TPE is a flash in the pan as far as photo-models are concerned for reasons of fragility in standing, staining, irrepairability, all things from which silicone doesn't suffer in comparison to anything like the same extent. For this reason, however attractive the TPE doll, I reckon that it's worth going for silicone every time.
There's something timeless perhaps in Samantha's portrait and I look forward to having my DS ladies to play with for photography for years to come. There's something about these dolls that's art rather than mere anatomical exactitude of reproduction.
This is a significant aspect of my criteria directing my enthusiasms in choosing dolls that can give of their best in that regard.
The detail that DS put in their dolls, exemplified in Chloé's photo above with the subtle blush of her cheeks sets them apart from others.
We all have different focii in finding art in photography. For some it's the traditional art of a set piece, of arrangement of lights, of proportion and composition
but for me photography is an art of the moment, of finding the moment, seeing it, predicting it, seeing its possibility and waiting for it, recognising it. This then transforms into something of a souvenir of the instant, something that cannot be re-created
and possibly this is for me the joy of working only with natural light.
In addition, however, the doll opens up the fun of the art of the absurd.
Not at all art pretentious in the photograph itself but an art in the story she tells.
My other ladies with whom I flirt
cannot do what the DS dolls do and have different and non-competing attributes.
Sorry - what a lot arising from a compliment about a photo - but truly it's my ladies who do it for me and very little to do with me!
Best wishes

Re: Portraits of Samantha
Well I think that is what makes your images original, they capture the moment and tell a story. Me, and probably many others, have a more cynical and analytic approach. I imagine a look, setting, light and etc. and then work towards creating what I have imagined earlier. Nothing impulsive, natural or spontaneous about it at all. I have a new head underway and I've already planned several scenes with her. It's my photographic background that sets in I suppose, I always had to plan ahead to get the result in a short amount of time. It"s still a lot of fun and crative tho.haremlover wrote:Sometimes I feel my snapshots are getting increasingly in the shade with the wonderful things that others are doing overtaking me by leaps and bounds.

Indeed. And that is essential for me when choosing a doll, and why DS will be my next one. It's a matter of timing and space rather than economy for me - and none of those are perfect right now. My TPE doll was just a deal I could not say no too, and I was very skeptical the first weeks. I feel a lot more comfortable now and see the strenghts and weaknesses of the doll.haremlover wrote:The reality is that it's DS dolls who do it for me!

But I digress... natural light is great to work with and deliveres an atmosphere flashes and bulbs can never reproduce, as can be seen hee.
