New silicon repair advice requested

Hey all,

Quick question regarding repairs of the new silicon...do you prep the surface with acetone? Do you use mineral spirits to clean up extra sil poxy or silicon ect...I read that GE Silicon II is better to use than sil poxy. Any advice? I've got some minor foot holes and I want to get this right. Thanks in advance for any input.

Hi Brian,
Clean with acetone. I use permatex flowable silicone windshield sealer on my DS doll. Don't use too much. Just enough so that little or none squeezes out. Hold the area to be repaired, in a naturally closed position, with cling film.

Silpoxy makes tint base, if you need to fill holes. Got mine at Amazon.

The silicone won't be a great deal different to Chloé's and if you look at the last page of Chloé's Day in the Life of a Doll thread http://dollforum.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 22#p766022 you'll see her repairs that I had to do on her heels.

On DS videos where any PU foam is fractured, superglue, cyanoacrylate is used to strengthen, stick it together and stick it back to the skeleton.

Permatex is wonderful stuff.

Chloé's repairs have been very successful as you'll see and luckily she didn't seem to mind holding her feet up in the air whilst I did them and whilst the silicone was setting
