I agreed to a repair part and partial refund. Doll has been sold at a slight loss. I will never buy from DS again. Ever
Eva: Received in mint condition and still is.
Eve: I received NO doll, offered NO replacement just a partial refund. I would have been happy to have been made the same offer and would of done it.
I hope she arrives safely in her new home!
Like that song goes It's all about the box, the box, it's all about the box.
Eva (Blossom) was so snug it was hard to get her out of it. I had to work my hands under her body and pop her free.
I wish they still used these nice boxes. The pink foam bricks to nothing to stop shifting with a doll and heavy and articulated as the Mini. I'm positive mine was stressed in shipping, as I barely touched her when she broke.
The top of the spine threading into the upper torso seems to be made of the cheapest plastic imaginable. I really hope its swapped out for metal or some kind of composite, or I'll always fear it happening again.
Like DarkOne said, plastics and composites come in industrial grades that are nearly indestructible, and surly don't cost much. There's really no excuse for this.
Lets all be glad that DS support is so helpful though, it could be a LOT worse in dealing with china given some of my experiences on Alibaba for various items!

I got my repair knee/thigh parts today. the knee joint tab does appear to be made of a rather good plastic, nylon I suspect. Its also a separate piece for the actual joint tab that feels a little better then the plastic of the thigh itself. I have not yet inspected the inside of my mini.
The joint from the thigh to the hip however feels like a harder more brittle plastic. making a tiny scrape on it confirms that it is indeed harder and easier to damage then the suspected nylon tab.
One thing I will note is there are little gear teeth on the thigh tab in the knee, that as I understand it mesh with matching teeth on the shin, meaning the knee of the DS mini actually have 2 joints that move in concert. Very cool engineering!
I am still investigating ways to duplicate the tab in stainless steel or brass to glue into my dolls existing thigh and avoid replacing the entire thigh (less cutting needed). It looks like its going to be a little more tricky with these gear teeth, but thankfully if I reproduce them, I won't need super accurate gear teeth or very many of them. I might also request another tab from DS now that I know its a separate piece, however nylon is not easy to glue.
Every day people remind me why I like dolls better.
My Eva (Blossom - Pink) is still mint. Her joints are still slightly tight and I force nothing. My Eve (Ghost - White) on the other hand was received with a broken knee, offered up as an orphan and now waiting on me to get up the nerve to do this.

Why are we not calling this a 'Manufacture defect' and getting a full refund or free replacement doll?
My question exactly. Hard for me understand how so many are praising the customer support of DS Doll. "Ya, we'll send you a part". "Fix it yourself". "Oh, you want a refund? Well, we can't offer a full refund but we can return about 25%. You see, we made the doll for you. Therefore you get to keep it". "Sure! We can send you a replacement. No problem. Kindly send us 1/3 the cost of the original and $268 for shipping." "Oh, no sir. Our policy strictly prohibits us from paying for shipping. But look at it like this. You will now have two dolls and we will throw in the repair part for free". Such a deal, right? WTF?
I'm glad those that have DS Dolls are mostly satisfied but I choose not to get stung again. What if I had paid out even more more money and then the replacement doll is defective or damaged in shipping? Or worse yet, confiscated. Happy I passed on this so called deal from DS customer service.

I agree with you both. they know its defective, so they need to step up and take responsibility and at least quit with the 1/3 cost and just hit you guys for the shipping of a full replacement. WTF is right. It must be such a huge disappointment for all of you who received these defective ladies and were expecting greatness, and instead got a great pain in the ass....
Best of luck to all of you.
after seeing how DS is handling this, i don't think i will ever order from them because their customer service is a joke and fucking sucks.
1/3 cost, they sent you a piece of shit!!! they out their minds......
My mini arrived yesterday and so far is doing fine. My order was one of the last to get made before they pulled the mini. And thus she has an improved skeleton.

Yay some good news. Glad to know at least the improved skeleton seems to be working.

I think I've spoken too soon ......
My new Eva arrived today and she was posing nicely with no apparent problem. However, I've just picked her up to give her a talc wipe and her left hip has suddenly gone loose. I fear it's the same problem I had on my first Eva (amongst all the other damage) and the plastic lugs on the pelvis have snapped. I was only turning her over with no movement on the legs whatsoever. I don't think DS will give me another replacement and I'm not sure I want one - beautiful though she is!

That's awful. I haven't had anything break yet and it's been 24 hours. Hopefully it stays that way

Well.. that just sucks. I would love to see pics of what snapped however. That is some serious bullshit really.
