I'd be wary of the foam in can. That sets stiff. On ebay one can get PU foam that's flexible and probably approaching the sort of foam used by the manufacturers.

It's a two part foam mixed 1+2 and it goes off in about 30 seconds, very tricky to work with.

using the permatex flowable silicone on the foam will be just fine. The foam is meant to adhere to silicone so no worries.
