First, thanks everybody for your kind comments about my welcoming Mandy into my home.

This afternoon, as I was loving her from behind, I got a bit carried away in my passions and struck my head on her eyehook neck screw, nearly injuring my eye.

Are they easily removed and re-placed, or am I better leaving it in? I want to be able to put her back up on the hook in her delivery vehicle, as that apparently is the safest way to store an RD between play dates.

Any technical feedback would be appreciated.

The eye bolt in the back of her neck can be removed, it's only screwed in there.

I always screw out Jenna's bolt when she's in bed.

Yes, they come out very easily, Nicole's neck screw came out without a problem (although I am careful, I don't remove it often).
sorry to hear about your incident-hope that didn't kill the moment with Mandy :(

Wow...an actual case of an RD user almost being seriously injured by the doll! I, too, was turned off a bit by that large protruding neck bolt when I first saw it. Now what would have happened IF, God forbid, you had actually received an occular injury while using the doll?

Yes, the neckbolt can be easily removed and just screws out. However, I think that will leave a noticable and unsightly hole in the doll's upper back...but maybe the wig would cover it. Still, I think it would be nice if Abyss could provide a matching flesh colored plug that could be pressed into the hole left behind after neck bolt removal so that it would be concealed.

Sorry to hear of your injury. actually the first time I sat Sandy in my lap, her bolt got me in the neck. although not seriously. as the others have said the neck bolt can be unscrewed and put back in. personally I leave Sandy's in and am more aware of it when I mess with her. but you fugure out what works best for you. there is a bit of a learning curve involved here. glad you didnt hurt anything more seriously! hope to see some pics of your lovely B4 sweetie.

Well.. it leaves either a hole, or a protruding eye bolt.. if I have to choose, I'll choose the hole every time...

The MOMENT I take Melanie down from her hook for any reason, I remove the eyebolt.
I was dressing Melanie once, and she began to fall backwards. Of course, I quickly put my hand behind her to catch her - and caught that damn bolt on my wrist. I endured the pain until I got her sitting up, then immidiatly removed the eye bolt.

Of course, made sure you put it back in before storing your doll, or hanging her up can become a very fustrating experience...

The hole is in a very out-of-the-way place and is normally covered by hair. I always take the bolt out first thing after taking a doll down off her wall bracket. Screwing it back in can be a tedious chore. To be precise (for that is what you need to be), it is difficult to get the alignment right for the bolt to catch the socket thread without locking after a few degrees of rotation because of being cross-threaded. I spend whole frustrating minutes sometimes trying to get it in (so to speak...)

Since many RD owners seem to be continuously screwing the neckbolt in and out of the doll, perhaps is would be a good idea of put a bit of silicone lubricant on the treads of the bolt. This should help prevent the treads from slowly wearing away. If that were to happen, then the threads might fail when the doll was in a hanging position and the doll could crash to the floor causing a lot of joint damage.

I agree whole-heartedly with Everhard. I took the neck bolt out of Nicole for the first time last night (prior to the Sexy U photos), and while it came out easily enough, it took me a few minutes to get it threaded in right. I had to approach the threads from the bottom and angle it upwards, and even then it took precise alignment efforts.
It was well worth it, as subsequent photos of Nicole laying on her stomach without a protruding bolt will show, but it took a little work for the advantage of having the hair lying flat on her neck.
