Like many others have said, no one possible reply can suffice. I will say right off the bat that I don't consider it a fetish. Not that I see anything wrong with agalmatophilia, but for me it's their resemblance to woman that makes them desirable, however stylized said resemblance may be. Though based on the definition above, my fetishes aren't even fetishes. For example, my urophilia is finding eroticism in a woman's desperation and pleasurable release, and any visual, tactile, or olfactory stimulation from the urine itself is only due to its association with the act that produces it. After all, a man isn't automatically labeled as having a fetish if he pleasures himself to an erotic drawing, since it's most likely the degree to which the image resembles a naked woman that turns him on and not the contrast of the ink and paper.

And in all honesty, I doubt I would've ever considered getting a doll had I not been single for most of my adult life, even if I'd instead been in relationships where sex was infrequent. Yes, having sex with a complete female form is far more psychologically satisfying than wanking to pics and vids, but it's so much deeper than that. While I might've been guilty of macho face-saving in claiming that I was just a looking for a sex toy and surprised at the affection I developed for her, I really knew all along that I was purchasing an artificial girlfriend; the only surprise is that it actually worked.

That said, I don't entirely see my dolls as women. I guess, if anything, I fantasize that they're living dolls, as if dolls are just another race that shares the planet with us humans and I happen to be in a polyamorous relationship with a few of them. My reason for exploring this is that I am wondering if a doll is a fetish if the attraction is owing to the fact it looks, feels and performs sex similar to a human partner. So, if the doll is emulating a human partner, our arousal is not stemming from the fact it is a doll, but from the fact it is the closest simulation to a human partner we have available to us.

I especially like NMN's statement about drawings and erotic art. It seems a 3D representation of a female should arouse any man. As we move into the age of sex Robots will they call it a robot fetish? If the future brings technology that allows for almost undetectable human replicas, will they be called android fetishes?

I think the state of mind defines if it is a fetish and and not just the object itself.



To this extent, I expect that anyone who wishes their doll would magically come to life, would in fact be using the doll as a substitute female which in my book does not fit the definition of a fetish.

Let me try to blow your mind people. I voted that I imagine my doll as another doll, usually the same 80cm Elf model, but belonging to somebody else. Just picture it in you head.
