Re: TPE "glue"...
Please, what viscosity does the glue have?
I haven't tried any solvents on my doll but have experimented with an old cyberskin item. I've had no results that resemble the wetness you describe, so I wonder whether the glue contains an unusually aggressive solvent.
Solvents I've tried include DCM, MEK with acetone and acetone.
Here's a fun thread by some nerf gun modders with some interesting information.

Re: TPE "glue"...
Since it involves nerf guns in some way, doesn't that automatically make it important? Now if we could throw in Paint Ball guns too we'd really have something.Obin wrote:One idea that goes with solvent welding is that only the substrate remains after the solvent evaporates. It's recommended to have good ventilation until the process completes. Acetone is a common solvent, so it wouldn't surprise me if the glue contains it.

Here's a relevant comment from that thread:
"One thing: solvent welding gives off seriously pungent fumes, worse than you get from any other adhesive I've used. Be sure you ventilate."

Others have described the scent as similar to MEK. Either way, ventilation is needed. Also, when using the solvent based adhesive, no open flames or smoking should be about. Most solvents, unlike dichloromethane, evaporate a flammable substance because they boil at low temperatures. Just google VOC.Szalinski wrote:If it smells like nail polish remover it definitely contains acetone (at least). MAKE SURE you use this stuff in a ventilated area and leave dolly in a ventilated area until the smell is gone. Acetone does not play well with living matter, MEK can be even worse.
Also, solvent based adhesives and just solvents are best stored in a cold place, including the freezer. It's very important to make sure that the lid is placed on tightly when storing.
When using this stuff, it's important not to have open flames anywhere about including candles and smoking. It's probably not a good idea to be making toast either. If you have an electric heater with exposed heating coils, please have that cooled.
