Welcome to TDF.
You need to have more than 5 posts approved to gain some privileges like ability to use private messages. I'm not sure but you may need 10 posts for pictures (if anyone knows please post it).
Just below where you make a reply there is an area for uploading files as attachments. Otherwise you can create albums in 'The Doll Album', and reference the photographs from there.

There are two steps, first you have to "upload attachment", which I guess is what you've already done. Then you have to click "place inline" which you can find right beneath the window you're typing in (it will show up when you've added an attachment). This will add the picture to your actual post, wherever you want. Use the rollbar to choose picture if you have added several
If it's still not working then the format of your picture might not be supported, or it's too big or whatever, depending on how this forum is set up. It should leave a message though.
