How soft is your TPE doll? The definitive guide

Post by Dollstudio »

Hi,

Which TPE manufacturer has the softest TPE blend? This is a frequently asked question.

Due to results from recent research, we are now able to assess TPE material softness with objective measurements.

On a proprietary scale from 0-100, the preliminary results are like so:
  • Aiersha - JY Doll (old blend): 60
  • DH168 (old blend): 70
  • Jinsan - WM Doll, WM Dolls, OR Doll, YL Doll (current blend): 75
  • 6Ye Global (current blend): 85
Lower numbers mean "feels more firm", higher number mean "feels more soft".

As usual, all credits for this TPE reaseach go to Indigo.

Also, as always, all TPE manufacturers are kindly invited to submit TPE material samples to allow listing in this comparison.

I am sure Doll4ever's numbers will beat them all, right?

. One vendor name kept coming up as being great at helping customers walk through the process, Booty Call Dolls. So I decided I would work with them on this first purchase, and did.

Thanks for this, very interesting.

How about a corresponding durability rating, since softness can be an issue for that?

great concept Sandro, it will be also interesting to map softness to resilience as well...not so much as in wear and tare, bit more so for dolls that are not used as sex dolls, but as models, to see how the softer tpe blends last, as this may also be a facotor in the choice of a dolly for the required application...but this is a time will tell.

I can test my new blend Aiersha (JY) if you let me know how. I understand it’s quite different from the old blend. You may not get a response from them since they don’t use TDF for advertising.

Yeah, this is key. Hopefully they’re not getting the softness at the cost of resilience.

Couldn't you apply shore hardness scale to this btw? That would be scientific instead of relative.

That would make the most sense, Dullahan. Maybe it’s coincidence, but the numbers listed here so far are within the range of the A scale used for softer TPE hardness. Maybe that’s what they’re using.

To Anung’s point, adding the flexural modulus stiffness test would help determine durability of the TPE since it would approximate ability of being stretched around bent knees and elbows and being stretched when a doll’s arms are raised or legs spread.

Edit: I just thought I’d this. Using shore hardness, the lower the reading the softer the material. That’s the opposite of what was stated in the original post.

Yea, that threw me off as well. Problem with using the durometer scale is that granularity is limited. The differences between WM and DH168 would likely be measured in tenths or hundredths. I don't believe this type of precision is an affordable option.

Yep. A few months ago I bought a Shore-OO durometer and tested my OR and D4E dolls:

Brilliant - Sandro to the fore very much so here. Congratulations.

These measurements accord with my subjective experience.

I don't think JY hardness has changed between old and new.

Best wishes

Harem

The Doll Forever rating is 90, so yes.

But wait, to be precise, 'Doll Forever [2016/2017]' is 90. As far as I know, this blend is not used anymore. The current TPE blend 'Doll Forever [2017 ss.]' is firmer and has not yet been rated. The current D4E TPE blend will be probably in the EVO range (but also has other changed attributes, like enhanced tearing resistance).

Is there a rating on the ORdoll "new softness material"?
ORdoll wrote:Yes - I send him this video

Thank you Mr Harem for putting it online.

I aim for the most natural feeling breasts of all dolls. This is a new softness material tested extensively for the G cup but not at present for the H cup.

Kind Regards

As far as I know this is not a new material (which would require a technology to blend different TPE materials), but a customization of hollow breasts (more or less air pressure inside the breast cavity).

Indigo's softness ratings does measure chemical characteristics of TPE, not what's physically or mechanically below the material (e.g. air pressure, foam core, metal skeleton).
