Sanhui/DS hybrid: Who has done it or could try?
Re: Sanhui/DS hybrid: Who has done it or could try?
I was asking because my favorite head from DS is only available for the 145 or smaller bodies. But I like only small breasts and even those on the 145- are too big for my taste. Now the DS bodies smaller than the 145 aren't available anywhere in the west anymore, because of the paranoia. But there are still vendors that carry the Sanhui 145-A-cup as well as the smaller DS heads. So if the heads had the same connector, it would be easy to mix them.

@skyknight: I'm sorry to correct you again, but Dollstudio and dsdolleurope (basically the same thing = Sandro) have the DS145- still listed.
http://de.dollstudio.org/produkte/doll/ ... -145-minus
http://de.dsdolleurope.com/koerper/koer ... -145-minus
Did you try to order a DS145- or SH145A and had trouble with customs?
In terms of an adapter, as mi6c already said, he got his from dollstudio, so have a look here as well:

Yet here I am, dreaming about reality again...

Greetings again.skyknight wrote:So, what you say is, sizewise the 13x,14x range of DS heads should fit the Sanhui 145 body without a big gap, but you don't know if they use the same connection for the heads?
I highlighted the important part in bold, but the gap is still an issue as I have no idea about either the neck diameter of the Sanhui 145A nor the connection area diameters of whatever DS head you may have in mind.
If I had to guess I'd say 62+/-2mm for the Sanhui neck and maybe slightly below 70mm for the smaller DS heads which would leave a bit of a gap, but I would certainly ask both manufacturers for the real values.
Afaik, the connector is the same for both Sanhui's( 145/165, hence their post about mix & match issues) and all DS heads( same neck post) so the adapter is the same as well.
What I meant when referencing the smaller DS heads is their size as proportional to a smaller body - but again, it is a guess, though hopefully an educated one.
Kind regards.

You misunderstood what I said. I know that they still sell the DS145- but I think the breasts on the 145- are still too big and they don't sell the smaller models! This why I asked if the heads for the D145 can be mixed with the body of the SH145A.nukeno wrote:@mi6c: Nice work. Very helpful!

Doesn't really matter because I wouldn't order from Dollstudio anyway, because I think compared to other (approved)european vendors they're way overpriced. Same DS145- doll 700EUR more(on Dollstudio site) or 900EUR more(on dsdolleurope site [yes the same guy takes different prices for the same doll, depending on which site you order from]) than Asiandolls in France!!! And that's before the adding of options that cost extra.
And no, I did not try to order anything, because I don't have that much money. But I would most likely get trouble with customs if I ordered outside the EU, because their local office loves giving me trouble about anything coming from Asia. Also I don't own a car and have no idea how I would get something as big and heavy as a doll home from their office. And don't even get me talking about the humiliating experience of being forced to open the package in front of them. So no, importing a doll from outside the EU is not an option for me.
I see the adapters but have no idea which one I would need to connect a DS head to a SH body.
Re: Sanhui/DS hybrid: Who has done it or could try?
I would like to know how well the adapter functions. Like does her head turn easily and hold its position? I would think it has to screw on, right? Or does it clip on?
As an owner of a SH 165 original, I can say that her skin is a bit pinker than my DS 163 2015 and DS 167 2015. It's noticeable, but not bad at all. With the bodies side by side you will notice the DS necks are shorter and wider while the SH necks are long and skinny.
I like to see people trying things like this.
Re: Sanhui/DS hybrid: Who has done it or could try?
Thanks, glad you like her and yeah, she is special.
As for the adapter - the one currently in use is a 2-stage Adapter or Adapter-Combo, using the Jinsan-Sanhui one( that you have) screwed into a DS-Jinsan one.
So the attachment is the same as you know - still a screw-on mechanism.
I am currently creating this particular combo as a single adapter to make it cheaper - in theory I could also make it into a magnetic one, but that'd be a lot more effort & cost, ahww, well, maybe someone will ask for it some time.
As for holding position its fine as the Sanhui neck does provide enough pressure to do that - I just wish they would relocate the front/back joint a few cm down, maybe I'll do that some time in the future.
Thanks for the neck observations, maybe you can provide me with some diameter data( esp. 167 f/b r/l) some time.
I am pretty sure I'll try more hybrids over time.
All the best.

Re: Sanhui/DS hybrid: Who has done it or could try?
Sometimes a DS face can look a little bit rounder than the Sanhui faces. Here are a few candid shots of a DS head on a SH165 body. The heads are just resting on the neck post, I did not use an adapter or remove the mounting plate on the DS's. Certain ones are thinner and match better to the body IMO but to each their own. You can also hide a lot with a wig.
Removing the neck mount from the DS head might make less of a gap but the head may look to sunk in... And you'd have to replace it with something to mount it. So probably better to use an adapter and live with the gap. Most neck gaps aren't that great anyway if you look right at them.mi6c wrote: Nice to see someone else interested.
Lets start with a picture ... I can then augment it with fewer words than I'd have to write without it. For once the original picture as taken by the camera.
First, as you can see the head is a very good fit to the body with respect to the contact area at the neck.
What you can also see is that it is a pretty good fit in terms of lightness.
The main problem here is the base color but that was to be expected, as the body is actually pretty pink-ish whereas the Ruby head is actually an ancient( pre-2015) yellow( I think, as no data could be obtained) - I would expect a current light pink DS head to be a really good match, but I do not have one so cannot verify and/or show.
Interestingly enough, as noted already, this does not matter much from a bit away, its only when you're really close that the difference becomes obvious.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards.
The color matches pretty well. Both head and body are from 2016.
Good luck!

I like the high fashion model look of the DS body but not the hands or feet as to me they are not realistic enough and look like mannequin hands etc, and then there is the issue of the hole that tear from sitting. And for the SH, I like their realism, more authentic looking hands and feet, and built in nether regions but the out of scale large breasts are offputting as a woman with that size of frame and lack of body fat, could only get large breasts implants which are now out of style even for porn stars.

On http://dollforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=143&t=81141 you'll find lots of photos of the DS163 hands. I have not had a problem with their appearance. The DS is not heavy compared to other dolls.
I have not had experience of the Sanhui but they look wonderful.
Best wishes

Bring it on, I would say, the more we learn, the better.
Only it is a pity that I do not have time to read everything and to follow.
