A spring is a great idea.
I was photographing Daria yesterday and after she was all posed and looking at the camera, her gaze would wander to the side.
Using a spring would never have occurred to me. It's such a simple solution.
Thanks siliconedoll and scooter. Being as Kristin is my first doll, I have nothing to compare her to, structure-wise. I've measured and the neck bolt, when bottomed out in her head, does not bottom out in her neck. it's about 5/16 inch shy. I still feel like her head turns on the neck a little too far, bulging her neck tissue. A longer/stiffer spring would help but then the spring would protrude from her neck, making it difficult to screw her head on; if that makes sense. soldering the washer to the bottom of her neck bolt would help, or maybe just epoxy.

Yes the grub bolt from what i know is inside the neck, that can break off, heh I know from experience, my head is still safe, and she is great at rear views, Ill get mine fixed, but you dont wanna have to fix it.
