Nice to see Jess sleeping peacefully. :)

I do not know which material you use to make the eyelids.
In my case I have chosen some soft felt they had at the trade shop and that stuff has a surface full of little fluff or lint (I do not know how to describe it exactly), and because of the fluff it is quite adhesive to the smooth plastic of the eyes. So I did not need any extra kind of glue to make them stick (and I do not feel I can recommend any kind of glue, because I would be afraid the eyes could be damaged when trying to remove the eyelids).
With that find of fabric after putting the eyelids on, the sleep spell was that deep that I could hold the doll up face down and even shake them (very gently) and the eyelids did not come off at all.

So I guess it is all in the material for the lids; the fabric should just not be too smooth, so it created some "natural" adhesion, and that is all what is needed. Uh, I hope I have been understandable at least a bit.

Thanks to Zang and this thread Alissa, too, can finally rest after her usually busy day. (Though I'm not sure what exactly she is doing while I'm away at work. Certainly not cleaning up...)

I said I'd report back once i found something to secure the eyelids over night, and I've had massive success with nothing more complex than Sellotape. I'm using the brand name stuff, not a clone and it works perfectly. After a month of doing this every night there's no sign of deterioration on the eyes at all.

What i do is pull off a length of tape that's slightly shorted than the widest part of the eyelid, fold it over on itself, sticky side out, then apply it to the back of the lid. Then just press the lid in to place. Every night i cuddle up with a sleepy Teddy Babe and every morning i wake up to a dreamy sleeping angel.

I generally leave her to snooze as i get up and ready, and when its time for her to wake up, a quick kiss and peel them off along with the tape.

I made Jess a pair of 'Bed time lids' that are slightly larger than the eye decal all round, this allows the felt to grip on to the plush and stop the edges coming up.

Thank you for an inspirational thread everyone. I don't have a TB but once my MLD arrives I hope to be able to do something similar. Love the sweet sleepy smiles!! :)

That is ingenious. I don't have those types of dolls, but good for you thinking outside of the box.

I made Bambi's eyelids oversized, so I just push the felt onto the plush to attach them.

Image

You can see in this picture how much oversized they are, about 0.5cm extra around the edges.

Image

I'll probably end up making a winking set that are smaller as the sleeping ones do look odd used like that..

Some nice additions to this thread. I especially like Grasowka's choice of colour for his Audrey.

I love seeing pictures of sleeping Teddy Babes. :D

I finally got round to making a pair for Lois last week.

The design needs a little refinement but Lois was happy to get some shut eye at last.

This is just way too cool. I'm going to pick up the materials for these for Nunoko tomorrow at Michaels.
That's neat.
