Hi,
Has anyone recently bought a new PIB doll? I went to Patrick's website and in the new updates section it says that they offer NO POKE wiring for the doll's hands.
I have been reading posts in this forum about people saying that they have had finger wire poke with their dolls, and I just want to check.
Thanks.

I haven't had any pokes with my girl, and she was created this last March. I did accidentally rip one of her fingers off. ...but it was easy to slip it back onto the finger wire and "glue" it back with some sil-pox.

How much pressure was necessary for the finger to break away from the hand? Also: was the wire braided or solid? Thanks.

(It happened just a few days after I got her.) I'm not sure exactly how it happened. I rolled her onto her stomach to powder her backside. Her forearm and hand was under her belly. I grabbed her by the elbow to pull her arm out from under her and I guess I pulled a little too hard. I didn't even notice it until I rolled her back over and saw the "ring" finger laying on the bed.

Luckily, since she had the finger wires, it was easy to put back on. And I haven't had any problem since (being more careful helps). Attachment:

I've had a couple pokes so far, and had her about 8 or so months now, but they are probably my fault for not handling her as gently as I could have. Nothing major, can't even tell they poked through after the fact.

The more gently we handle our dolls the less damage they will incur no matter what make we own

Looking at the ordering form I found the finger wires option, which I have no clue about. Found this thread then, and have some fingers-for-dummies-style questions: 1. what are wires for? 2. if they are good to have, why are they not included by default? 3. conversely, if they are not good to have, why are they on offer at all? 4. what are the ups and downs of choosing either option? 5. what are finger pokes? It's not clear to me from what I've read here. Finally, what should I do?

Have the hand grab something, hold a glass or just resting on a knee. This option is of course great to have if you'd like to pose you doll (for instance for photography). The possibility to order without fingerwires might be handy for those less interested in the doll's ability to hold poses, but more in a flexible bed-partner without a real need to pose her. Another reason for going without fingerwires is indeed the possibility of these finger pokes; this is a type of damage in which the wire in the finger comes through the silicone and is exposed / visible. The doll-makers do their best to come up with solutions to minimize the chance of these finger pokes. Hope this helps you a bit.

Fingerwires it is then, as I'm primarily interested in photography, and I presume fingers that are capable of holding various items will be essential. I can only hope that the built-in protection measures — whatever they are — will work as intended. Though this makes me wonder now — does a fingerwire option imply toewires? Not that I think it's terribly important to hold things with toes, but for the sake of completeness, it would be useful to know :) 'Aeriolas' were the other thing I was unsure about, as there were no illustrations. Having imagegoogled through dozens of... transistor radios, in the end I did find something that might be it, and things finally clicked. Unfortunately, the photos were of cancerous breast tissue :/

Nice job repairing the finger! The ladies do have a tendency to sit on their hands when moved.
