Making a posable metal skeleton for silicone body...

Post by bootylover24 »

How would you go about doing this?

My problems... some ball joints on websites I've found, only have a range of motion of 15 degrees in both directions.
Is there a way to set these up to give a skeleton full motion for a body?
Still looking into this...

What about small dolls? Seems to me so far, there are fewer options at scales as low as 60-100cm dolls.

Not too confident about this. Anyone have any experience?
I wonder how much it would cost for a mechanical engineer to pop out some special made joints...?

I believe Doll Sweet posted photos of their skeletons in another thread. That might help you see what an established company has chosen to use for joints.

As dragonfly mentioned, DS Doll posted some nice pics that should give you some good ideas. Here's the link to the thread...

Here's something I started on a while back for whatever it's worth. Unfortunately I find it easier to start things than to finish things now days, lol.
It's a skeleton for an arm using clevis and rod end fittings from McMaster-Carr and PVC pipe for the bones. The legs could be similar but the hip joints would be the most complicated.
DS Doll appears to use plastic or nylon "knuckles" in some of their joints to make them work like universal joints.
You can find the part numbers on McMaster-Carr: http://www.mcmaster.com/#

wow Thanks MannequinFan, I couldn't find that post. Very nice links.

Doll Sweet's bones look sweet. Reminded me of C3PO.
