work on her, but the heating element may be a total loss.

in hot tpe just fine, but the insulation on the heater wire turned to powder.

found out my craft room, which I thought smelled like Martha Stewart's
living room, smells like a bus garage. It's a mess. I need to clean it.

real wake-up call. Annie was a lot of fun over the last two years, but I
think it's time for me to sit back and take stock. I've concluded that I
don't have the proper tools, equipment, or training to do the job right.
I'm glad that I tried building a doll on top of a plastic skeleton, because
it saved from breaking the bank to buy an expensive toy that wouldn't
have lasted more than a month or two. While that wouldn't have been
so awful as the disaster that I narrowly avoided (thanks again to open
doll design for making that life-saving catch), it would've been a case
of buyer's remorse that we can't afford. Annie might not be an actual
person, but she taught me something about love, and that I'm blessed
(very) to have so much love in my life, shared with actual people.

new and different with Annie. She was at her best with the two part
'exsert' system. Trying for a seamless action is what I meant when I was
talking about not having the right equipment and training. Here, have a
look at a screwed up shot: Here's another pic, showing the results. Looks better than the exsert,
but about a size too large for the rest of her, and feels like the floor mat
from a 4x4: On the plus side, I got this scarey looking halloween mask: Plus, I can make more for my friends if I want to hear them complain
about the smell.

Safety first, last, and always, no matter how long it takes to melt the plastic. I only need to strip her down and remelt the working surfaces about every 3 months. I've also discovered that I can use a lower operating temperature, for a more wax-like consistency. This let's me coat the cores, rather than immersing them, which reduces the weight of the finished doll. I'm finally getting what I needed all those years ago when RealDoll(rtm) was first introduced to the consumer market. A grounded outlet for emotions that could otherwise be ruthlessly used against me. Oh, and some nifty Halloween props.
