Re: Process of Doll Making
I skipped parts 4 & 5 because they just show the use of epoxy putty and wax for filling imperfections in the mannequin which is really pretty self explanatory.

I'm in the process of saving the files.
One thing for sure, I bet it took him a long time to do all that work. I think if I was going to try to do something like this I would start with casting small parts of a mannequin (like a hand and wrist or foot and ankle), just to get used to the techniques and materials. Then once the desired knowledge and confidence is gained, go for a full body mould. I would want to make a pre-mould though to cast the skeleton inside silicone foam before casting it in the main mould, (as most doll manufactures do).
Many hurdles to jump over and probably a lot of trial and error, time and money!
These videos are very useful, cheers!

That was also taken from the old Siliconefutur site. It's from the Guide 3 series so I think it's actually a little older.FlashGordoll wrote:Just found this video which I hadn't noticed before, it was added this year. Basically the same way as the siliconefutur vids. Sorry its in French! But worth a watch anyway.

For some reason in Rapidshare you have to click on the "share" button that's below My Downloads for all the videos to show up.
1 & 2 are overviews that have english subtitles and 4 & 5 I did not upload because they are just about using wax and epoxy putty to fill imperfections.

Re: Process of Doll Making
I used JB waterweld - you can get this stuff at Home Depot or Lowes.

Just cut off a piece of the stick, knead it, then apply to mannequin to fill in any imperfections you want to fix before molding.
Wax would be for the same type of thing except not permanent.
That's really all there is in those two videos, you're not missing anything.

Well crap.xcentrik wrote:were the videos removed? i even signed up to rapidshare and tried clicking on share under My Downloads on your link but there are no videos showing up
I haven't used Rapidshare for a a while so it looks like they deleted the account. Sorry about that xcentrik.
I'll try to make another account and re-upload them maybe tonight. I have a slow upload speed so it takes quite a while.

Re: Process of Doll Making
Get a plastic skull Halloween prop and put clay on top of it.
You will have a foundation to work on and you will use a LOT less clay.
I make BJD heads this way.
