COLORED CONTACT LENS FOR DOLLS

Post by timetraveler1 »

We have all seen many dolls and they offer different colored eyes but what if it still isn't what you want? .
My solution idea would be they have out contact lens (colored) that changes a person eye colors , and some colors are spectacular looking , I once saw a woman with some very pretty blue eyes and commented on how pretty her eyes were !
so the same could be used for dolls to make their eye color even more spectacular! :D

the link above is just for example , their are probably more .

the reason I brought this idea up was so that instead of having to change a dolls eyes out for a different set a person could instead put the colored contact lens of ones choice and change the eye color that way , seems easier ! :D

Its ironic that you posted this because just earlier i was thinking about a pair of contacts i bought that are white with yellow around the edges and i wear them very seldom. Yhe thought crossed my mind that perhaps i could put them in my doll... The only issue i can see is that they will dry out quickly as dolls dont have tear ducts and cannot moisten thr lenses so they would become dry hard plastic but if you don't mind wasting a pair of $20 costume contacts they might actually work. Plus they might dry in the shape of the dolls eye and be able to pop off and on again by dampining the inside with some saline solution and a q tip.
i do think it's funny i was just pondering this earlier.

I don't think it will work guys

They are in eyes which are wet and need to stay wet or they will dry up...

People who wear them, most carry eye drops with them to help with that...

When you see that someones has popped out it's usually because they have dried out a bit...

I bought a pair of lenses a couple of days ago (cheap because of short expiration date) , and a doll is under way, so I'll get to test it in a couple of days. I hope it will work as I don't like the eyes the doll comes with and it's a big turn off unless I can change them by using contacts.

i think it will work and if you want to permanently attach them use superglue but just a dab.

So your going to take the whole doll into the eye doctor to have the eyes measured then? Or just the eyes?

Anyone here wear contact's?

They measure your eye's so that they will fit...

Because all eyes are different sizes..

And then give you a prescription!

Yes a prescription is needed to order them as how else can they make them?

Along with what I said before, about them drying out. They are stored in a saline solution when not used unless they are the disposable type which are only good for one day..

The only thing I can think of that you might be able to to do is buy some in like a joke shop or something like that... But the chances of even those fitting are very small and they would I'm guessing be RED in color only..

My son does, and I forever find these little bitty pieces of dried bluish plastic, that were indeed whole lenses at one time.

I have to agree with xtine here and suggest that the moist kind of lens, like a regular daily wear, will dry out in less then an hour.

A hard lens would work; you would need to get RGP lenses and you may be able to get cosmetic RGPs but I'll bet they cost.

...............I'd hit dat

I don"t think they make RPG in color's and also they still have to be measured for your eyes so they fit...

And yes they do cost more...

Once more you have to have a prescription to get them...

Christine , actually I believe some places sell them without prescriptions maybe the link I provided ? and yes normally you would be right that they stay in by the wetness of the eye , but we are talking dolls here and are customizing , and as such a light dab of silicone ( so they can be removed if needed later) will let the contact stick and stay in place .
On a latex doll I put in a customized eye pupil (shown how by Fabian of this forum ) and used silicon to do it , so it can be done . :D
