My Size Barbie Mod - 3d Print files for Download
Re: My Size Barbie Mod - 3d Print files for Download
Thanks very much, I was planning on leaving the torso to the end, so this works out perfectly.
Pics to follow...
Re: My Size Barbie Mod - 3d Print files for Download
As previously mentioned, I thought the MSB neck was too long so here is my modification:
Before removal Torso This is the neck socket I designed and printed out, it incorporates a ball and socket so should allow for some movement now Temporary mounting before glue A more natural look, in my opinion And with that, on to final paint and finishing and she should be all done!

Looking great so far - can't wait to see the final result!
That's one of the nicer MSB faces that they made. A bit more mature looking.
Looks like I'm a little late, but I did a test on the shoulder joint today to see how well it works.
It works really nicely for range of movement, but as I expected it doesn't hold a pose too well.
It definitely needed the two magnets.
Some positions will hold like with the arms raised vertical, but when the arm is extended straight out it tends to move down slowly.
Just not quite enough friction in the socket to hold up the weight of the arm.

the arm in.
I didn't expect it to be too flexible but it works!
I'm happy with my neck joint, just need to add a little to the ball component to make it a little stiffer as her head is rolling
around like a hair/metal rock band fan *hee*
Plan for the facial makeup is to recreate the Blonds Blond Gold LE Barbie, I think the eye repaint will make a real difference
plus hairdo, jewelry, etc.
Probably have her all painted by this Sunday.

Started from this: And here's the result: Side view of original: And now: I think I was able to match the tone on her arms, I was aiming for the "Neutra" skin tone which
I understand is an official Barbie skin colour.
Hair and make-up to follow then I will post more complete pics once I finish making some outfits for her,
including stockings, garter belt, underbust corset, opera gloves, neck choker, and a complete Playboy bunny
suit (black of course to go with the shoes).
So now that I've finished Phase I, I have a bunch more ideas to try out so will be posting progress pics of my
various projects.
Thanks again to MF for the various components, I think she looks pretty good but should be outstanding with
the upcoming outfits.

I have a MS Barbie too that I modified, but that was before MF came up w/ his 3D printing method.
Have you considered making longer arms w/ elbow and wrist joints?
The factory arms and hands are kinda under scaled.

OUTSTANDING JOB SF!
Love the before/after pics! That second pose is really great!
Great job on the painting - everything matches up perfectly!
SF I really appreciate all the work you've done to bring this to life. You are no doubt a man of many skills.
Can't wait to see the outfits you come up with!
RK I'll be sending SF the hands I used for Abby which are a bit larger/more to scale and will give her a wrist joint.rubherkitty wrote:The factory arms and hands are kinda under scaled.

Thanks, RK! As noted by MF, I will add his hand and wrist to the build.rubherkitty wrote:She came out great!

I'm pretty happy with the colour, interesting to note that there are about 15 different colour hues for Barbie but I went with the "Neutra" tone.
I started with Tamiya Sandable Primer in Light Grey then used Tamiya TS-77 Flat Flesh as the base followed by multiple airbrushed coats of
acrylic paint to match the tone of the arms. I noted that there were three different colour hues on the original MSB, the legs, torso, and arms
were all different.
As mentioned, now that she's complete, I can start taking measurements for her outfits, hope to have something ready in a couple of weeks.
And as always, lots of pics!

I have 2 MSB's that I bought through Craigslist sight unseen and the were both MSB Angel that had a mature face too. Will the head on your Barbie be easily detachable where you could swap heads?
There are other head options and some that are even upscaled a little.
This pic show my MSB Angel on the L and in the middle, a head from a Barbie Primp & Polish styling head set that is upscaled a little. I actually used a Barbie Primp & Polish ethnic styling head for my MSB, but my Barbie is also upscaled quite a bit taller. Just tossing out ideas.

Once I get my 3D scanner fixed, I'll be able to start scanning some other reference heads in then 'port them over
to Blender for modeling...
Re: My Size Barbie Mod - 3d Print files for Download
Washed her hair so styling next then hopefully make-up repaint by this weekend.
In the meantime, now working on her PB Bunny costume, trying to decide whether to use black satin (traditional) or
PVC Vinyl (very shiny) or faux leather.

You are very good at it!
SF that's another great classic pinup pose! Stockings look excellent.
Can't wait to see the PB outfit!
SF, looking at that photo I'm thinking the hand pose I sent you may not be the best for the look you're trying to get.
Might be better with something more elegant instead of the spread finger pose.
Maybe something like this would be better... With MBL I can also lengthen the fingernails!
