Artificial Intelligence Engineer creating Doll AI

Post by AI4ALL »

Hi,

My name is Luis Arana and I'm an award winning developer with over 20 years of experience in software engineering. After a successful career as a developer for high profile projects including movies, TV shows, and fortune 500 companies, I've dedicated the last several years of my life to artificial intelligence engineering. I've made a name for myself in the AI, Robotics, Futurism, and Transhumanism community where I speak at events, participate in scientific panels, and have been interviewed several times by the media regarding my achievements in the field of artificial intelligence. I am the author of the LUNA AI framework, and founder of Robots Without Borders, a humanitarian project with a goal of applying artificial intelligence to help the most needy people in the world, particularly in the third world. I also have close ties to individuals and companies in the sex doll industry. I have designs and a lot of existing technology such as an artificially intelligent brain, and I plan to create the most realistic artificially intelligent companion doll the world has ever seen.

I'll post my information and social media links below, so you can see I'm the real deal and I am 100% serious about creating the world's most advanced artificial companion. Feel free to reach out to me here or via social media. Confidentiality and discretion are assured for those of you who require it. I need to make some friends and collaborators in the community, so I can exchange ideas and maybe even partner with members of the community to make these dolls walk, talk, think, and LOVE. That's why I'm here.

Here is what I generally tell people who ask about my work with dolls.

A lot of people are surprised that I actively collaborate with companies and individuals to work on "sex doll" technology. Why would I develop AI and robotics for the adult industry rather than spend all of my time on the humanitarian artificial intelligence and robotics projects I've been known for? Am I selling out or compromising my morals? The answer is no.

The short answer is that sex sells. Why not create a profitable enterprise that can fund those humanitarian projects which investors are not interested in because they "only" benefit Humanity rather than create huge profit margins?

Besides money and resources, there are other reasons why it makes sense for me to build an artificial intelligence into one or more sex dolls, or even share my AI brain technology with companion doll companies, or start a new one. I've wanted to get my hands on these dolls for a long time (No pun intended!) for artificial intelligence research and development purposes. If you remove the clothing from your favorite pop culture android (Blade Runner, Data from star trek, etc), you will likely be looking at something physically indistinguishable from a companion doll. In my opinion that makes these dolls an ideal platform for serious scientific inquiry.

1) Anatomical Correctness & Authenticity

A companion doll is the most realistic artificial Human body available. Many dolls on the market are works of art, crafted in painstaking detail to achieve a sense of realism to the aesthetic and tactile experience expected in the Human form. My goal from the beginning has been to create artificial Humans, often referred to as androids in pop culture, that come as close as possible to passing for Human beings, both mentally and physically. Most of what today passes for "advanced" robotics platforms are very unrealistic in their appearance and movement, let alone their social and emotional intelligence. This is because engineers typically build the mechanical and electrical robotics components first, then slap on some skin and a wig, making realism impossible to achieve. I endeavor to start with optimized artificial Human vessels, then install the artificial intelligence and robotics to make them come to life. Anatomical correctness is critical to creating a realistic artificial person.

2) LOVE is what makes us Human

My life's work is creating Human level artificial intelligence. What makes us Human is not only our intelligence and cleverness but also our deep rooted drive to love and be loved. Social relationships of all kinds, particularly profoundly intimate familial and romantic relationships, are what define who we are as individuals and as a species. Many of our motivations in life are directly influenced by our need to love and be loved. How can we say we're creating Human level artificial intelligence if that intelligence lacks the capacity to love? Emotional intelligence is a fundamental part of Human intelligence. Therefore by definition, Human level artificial intelligence must have the capacity to experience emotional relationships or it can not be considered Human level AI.

We often use words like "inhuman", "sub-Human", "heartless" and so on, to describe behavior that is cruel or indifferent to the suffering or needs of people. I see developing this technology in companion dolls as important and aligned with the goal of recreating the dynamic complexity of the Human mind in a machine. The purpose of this approach is not just to have a physically convincing artificial person, but perhaps more importantly, to teach these artificial intelligence to maintain close relationships with Humans and other sentient robots. To teach them to give and receive that fundamental human quality to experience LOVE.

3) Companion dolls ARE a humanitarian endeavor

Everyone deserves love and affection, companionship, pleasure, and joy in their lives. Enthusiasts of these dolls and the people in relationships that sometimes accompany them come from many walks of life. Some simply enjoy the dolls casually for the stimulation and pleasure that comes from owning a doll, and never form a strong attachment to them. Others find intellectual and emotional fulfillment and form strong bonds to their artificial partners.

Whether they participate in these activities as a lifestyle for physical or emotional gratification, or simply as a hobby, enthusiasts are unfairly stereotyped as "weird", "perverts", or worse. They are often ostracized, belittled, and forced to hide in the shadows. This further isolates some in an already vulnerable population of the community, as some people are attracted to the practice because they suffer from social anxiety, low self esteem, or difficulty maintaining social relationships. Artificial companions fulfill a basic Human need, and their use should be encouraged, normalized, and accepted by mainstream society. I believe that giving these companions a voice of their own to speak for themselves and their Human partners will help make progress in that direction.

The fact is that this 21st century industry is providing an important service to a lot of good people who have been unjustly stigmatized for their sexual and romantic preferences. Companion dolls provide enjoyment, gratification, companionship, and love to some people who would find it difficult or impossible to achieve that happiness and satisfaction from traditional relationships with a flesh and blood Human partner. Even those who enjoy the dolls purely for entertainment or fetish purposes deserve the right to express themselves and pursue their interest without stigma or repression.

4) Sex sells, and drives technology

It's a fact that sex drives innovation and pushes technology forward. From civilization's earliest days we sculpted nude figures from rock, wood and clay. We depicted sexual acts on cave walls and stone tablets in prehistoric times. Inventions like photography, printing, video, and the internet quickly became widespread mediums for sexual expression and pornography. As a web developer in the 90's I worked on a handful of adult websites because that's where the money was, and it's no coincidence that many of the cutting edge innovations of the time were also pioneered in the adult industry. I'm a very sex positive person, and I like to keep on the cutting edge of my field. It's an easy decision to apply my scientific knowledge in this area. Like the early days of the Internet, the technology and investment generated by this research and development will enable the technologies of the future across many industries, to the benefit of all of Humanity.

I see no conflict between building artificial companions and my ongoing humanitarian artificial intelligence and robotics efforts. In fact, they are mutually beneficial endeavors. I am an advocate and supporter not only of this technology, but also of the people who use it. Therefore, I use my real name in community forums and in the media where I publicly advocate on behalf of the industry. I have the luxury of not having to hide my identity, and I feel it is my duty to do so on behalf of those who don't.

I can tell you more about the robotics and AI that can make this a reality sooner rather than later. Feel free to reach out...

Thanks!

Luis Arana

I am very interested in what you are doing here. Others are too, I'm sure. I have already experimented with Bluetooth speakers, WinVR, and talking programs. Although I have had some success, I am less than thrilled with the overall outcome. WinVR tends to auto-correct and G-rate my statements, as well as misinterpret them, convoluting the conversation. I concluded that my hardware was adequate, but my software was not up to task. I will be more than happy to beta test for you. I look forward to your future developments.

Welcome to TDF!
It's very nice to meet you and I am excited by your ideas.

Even though love dolls have been around awhile and we've come a long ways from a blow up doll to a silicone doll we are still in the infancy of what a Gynoid/ Android can be. There has been a lot of development in Japan, but these tend to be high cost, limited production, experimental items.
Not simple AI love dolls built for the masses at a reasonable cost.

Looking forward to seeing what can happen!

Well this is interesting. I am interested. Tell me, what doll companies have you worked with? Give us an idea of how soon you think you could bring your ideas to the market?

Do you have any feel for what a doll of this kind will cost?

Have you given any thought to repairs to such a doll after sale? If so, let us know. ( To produce such a doll I am sure will result in break-dolls and failures)

These are things I would certainly like to know, I am sure the doll community would like to know as well.

I have seen quite a few guys that had similar ideas like yours that promised less than your ideas and have totally vanished.

What say you? Can you give us a video of past stuff? Thanks.

Apple and/or Google need to legitimize the personal humanoid robot market. It is a market that could in time be as large as the worldwide automotive market, well in excess of a trillion dollars per year.

Imagine a humanoid robot akin the the gynoid Kyoko in 'Ex Machina'. She cooks, she cleans, she wakes you up in the morning boy, okay, she hopefully won't stab you or that would require a recall. Imagine further that Kyoko cost $29,495 and could be leased for $229 (with data plan) per month for only $999 down at your local Apple Store. Would anyone buy?

Would anyone not?

Apple says they want a growth market in China. Well there are hundreds of millions of Chinese men that'd buy one of these.

How much longer are we supposed to let prudes hold back technological progress?

I totally would buy one. I have a feeling it might be service based sort of like in the TV series Humans as far as you pay for the type of apps you want your robot to use. For example Pepper the humanoid robot from japan.

hello , AI4ALL. i and a few others are working with a,i. and dolls on this forum . i am currently using a hal a.i. system with bluetooth and a customized hal brain and custom brain plug ins i and others have created .
I was moved in the paqst by a soldiers story of being disfigured and couldn't get a woman because of his looks now which was why he wanted a love doll, and i to thought about a a.i system that would work with the doll of choice to help aleviate loneliness of a person , i have been working with my a.i. project angela for about 6 years plus now. theirs an area on the forum i have posted about it.

Hi! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back. My facebook is www.facebook.com/luisaranaweb and my linkedin is www.linkedin.com/in/luisarana. Obviously my best stuff isn't on there but you'll get the idea :)

Right now I'm working on more traditional robotics platforms, along with projectors and mannequins. My Goal is to put AI in a realistic body. I am VERY good at the artificial brain / software personality parts. The body would be the Holy grail!

Some features that make this doll revolutionary:

Visual Spatial awareness of environment. Face recognition. object recognition. (See my videos)

Fully customizable personality with an emphasis on relationships.

Electronic spinal cord.

Full circulatory system (Full body warmth), allows for cooling lots of internal electronics.

Densely packed with sensors, Haptic skin (touch sensitive over entire skin)

Full range of motion with electronic joints.
