New Company/Doll: New Territories: Lotus

Post by ibella »

As far as I know, I'm the first person outside of Asia to buy from this company. They had to set up a paypal account so I could buy. Found their dolls on Taobao and looked up their official site to buy directly from them.

Here's their site if anyone wants a link: http://www.ntdoll.com/frontpage-index.html

I love their faces! Had a hard time choosing between Lotus, Crystal and Xun. Pearl didn't tickle my fancy.

Received her a few days ago and finished painting her yesterday, reassembled her today.
I have flash and non-flash next to each other in each one because the natural light pictures never turn out clear. Plus you can see the blushing better with the flash.
For the hell of it I tried posing her standing on one foot. I don't know people have the patience to balance dolls for pics, this was a pain in the butt!

The flesh tones are nicely done, especially on the tummy; really enhanced those cute curves.
I see why it was tough to decide; Xun is dreamy. I saw that the eyes are glass, which explains
why they're so stunning.
It's also interesting how just the lighting on the eyes so drastically affects the expression.

Thanks for sharing your work. Painting dolls is one avenue I have yet to tread. Fascinating.

...............I'd hit dat

very nice :D

I looked over the site, and the Lotus was the face I found most appealing :)

I added the info to the list of small dolls thread

Thanks you all :D
I would love to see the company get some more business.

You know, even though there doesn't seem to be any way that I've found yet to keep body blushing from chipping eventually as the doll is posed and dressed I still just have to do it lol. I mean they don't look complete with out it to me.

Very pretty in an "Edward Scissorhands" or "Beetlejuice" kind of way. I wouldn't be surprised if Tim Burton owned stock in this.

hehe I couldn't resist painting her upper back bony because of the sharpness of the sculpt. Although the top of her spine isn't in individual sections, I painted it that way because for some reason I like that look better than just a smooth line.

I was definitely going for some dramatic looks for her with the insanely bright orange hair, super bright blue eyes and crazy long eyelashes hehe.

Most of my characters are far more normal looking so I figured since I didn't actually have plans for this doll I would try going something really different.

If you ever get bored, you should video a movie with them. Have the dialogue and poses worked out in advance and then just roll with it. Their facial features are just rich with potential.

I think I may do a web story with them once I get them all clothed. Just maybe!

Finally getting back to sewing for my dolls. Decided to go for Kasana first because I thought since NT Doll is new, there could stand to be a few more pics of their dolls out there ^_^

These shows turned out sooo much better.

Had a really hard time trying to fix the colors, but this first photo turned out truest to color and I think the best out of the lot:

And a few other shots:

Gorgeous pics ibella! I really like this one...

So cute!
The complimentary colors really make the photos pop!
Nice job on the dress too. If I tried sewing I'd probably sew my fingers together, lol.

If I could breath life into that doll, I would in a heart beat. I think I understand where the inspiration for the book Pinochio came from.

Thanks again you 2 :D
Yeah, I love the orange/blue combination. At first I was going to go green for her eyes but once I tried the blue on her I knew that was the way to go.

That's one of the few pics with using the flash that I could get of her. Most of the time the flash makes her eyes look all freaky since they are so reflective.

47616902 that's probably it! It's similar to the Pygmalion thing. I always develop an attachment to the things I work on and often wish I could give them life T_T Oh man it would probably be a mess though lol. But definitely interesting.

Wow, she's more poseable than my action figures. Can she do the splits? Can her ankles pivot side to side?
