Here's number of my old pewter figures I hand painted a long time ago.

I used to have a lot of fun painting these. Maybe I'll get back into it just for fun, and if time allows... :morning:

Very cool, did you do the wargames associated with these types of miniatures, or did you collect them?

I was a player and ran the games for a group of friends back then. We all took turns DM'ing, and had a lot of fun and enjoyed good times and company. Those were the days my friend. Laughter, food, drink, games and women, not always in that order... We played a variety of roleplaying games; Dungeons and Dragons (many editions of it), Shadowrun, Battle Tech/Mech Warrior, Traveler, the list goes on... These were poor quality in comparison to some of the figures of many of my game mates. One of them would use a dog hair glued to a toothpick to paint the mouths and eyes on his figures. If your been to comic and game shops, you may have seen the incredible level of skill of what some gamers/artists have achieved.

Oh yes, some can turn these miniatures into masterpieces! About once a year, my buddy and I meet up at an HMGS east convention, usually Historicon. I'm not too into the historical wargames really, it's more of an excuse to hang out with a buddy who has moved away and has a family now. Some of the paint jobs there are astounding.

Don't sell yourself short though, astounding means for the good and bad paint jobs at these shows. Some of the things that vendors, who are supposed to be good, sell at these things are just dreadful.. and people still pay a good sum of money for it! (way overpriced.. but that's another thing)

But aah the good times, they were a-plenty :D Throw Hero Quest in there and we've got a party

Maybe this thread is in the wrong subforum (Open Forum might have been better), but just go ahead, I say!

I've got some pewter, too ("Celtos" miniatures, formerly by i-Kore, now Brigade Models):

Thanks, Lemminkäinen. That are at best "temporary dioramas": just loose figures and loose pieces of terrain arranged at whim on a grass mat.

Now those have got to be the smallest 'dolls' anyone has posted!

LOL! They made minis based on Sean Connery's 'Zardoz' character?

They are sold by thewarstore.com in the "exclusives" section. I still need to pick up mounted Terminators even though none of the post-apoc rules we use have rules for horses.

The gun is good...

Man! Look at the detail you guys poured into those! Amazing work!
I love the 'gravel' on the bases.
Speaking of small dolls, does anyone recall when exactly it was when a doll for a boy turned into an "action figure"? I think it was around the time Star Wars came out with their line of miniature dolls. I had a big collection of them that were stolen.
