TPE Storage. Hanging up or Laying down?

Post by Outkast »

Since I've ordered my TPE 135cm Yourdoll recently , I have been racking my brain on how to store her once she arrives :?

In the past, I have owned a silicone Realdoll and I had her hanging up by a neck bolt. I also used a spacer between her knees to prevent creasing in the crotch area.

With a TPE doll, should I hang her up or lay her down?
If I store her naked laying down, is it ok for long periods of time in between uses?
Do I place a piece of memory foam underneath?

She must be well hidden so my wife doesn't find her :( . So, I need something to be well ventilated and lockable.

I have seen some cool storage ideas on here such as a snowboard bag and hanging options in a cupboard.

If I was to hang, I was thinking of a metal cabinet. The cabinet measures 1891 x 480 x 500mm. I could add a padlock latch and drill a few holes around for ventilation.

If I was to store laying down I probably use something like a storage box W:697 H:603 L:1450mm

Either way, it will be easy to justify the newest storage item in the garage, as I can say I need more storage for power tools etc

Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated!

I usually leave Miss April (153cm TPE doll) laying in bed, I have an air matrice that works quite well Sleep IQ you know. But I have to hide her from Friday evening to Sunday Evening, Granddaughter time, so I hang her by her neck bolt it works fine. and very easy and convenient.

I am sure you will here of hundreds of ways to store them, a lot depends on how long you will be storing them with out moving or repositioning them. I have heard of people storing their dolls for months or even years laying down on memory foam with no ill effects. 8)

-biggest thing that people miss while storing: tpe to tpe contact for a duration will meld the material and tearing will occur when separated.

-I wouldn't suggest hanging a tpe doll.

Why would you not hang a TPE Doll?
As long as the arms and legs or at a neutral position then it is perfectly ok. Also make sure the where the legs and torso meet are at a neutral position as this area is often overlooked and causes what looks like really bad Spaulding due to melding.

The melding will occur weather the doll is hanging or laying down, or in fact in any other position that allows this for an extended period of time. This is not a consequence of hanging.

yup. they're separate points. (I'll put bullet points so no one gets confused.)

For the hanging, unless they've improved on the build by now, manufacturers themselves do not recommend hanging them (*or putting them on a stand) and sometimes you get a doll with the skeleton that is not totally affixed to the skin. I don't want to be surprised w/ a doll that suddenly gets separated this way. :)

An example.

I have a first generation tpe. (if that's how you say it. :)) This honestly scares me.

This may work now for the improved/current models. but has anyone been using it. It would be nice for some solid confirmation.

Well the opposite is true for me, I am scared by laying a doll on any surface that is not naturally conforming to they're specific body curves for an extended period of time, worried about compression. Hanging keeps the doll in a natural position and does not place any pressure on any body surface. This method has so far worked well for me. If I experience any problems that even seem to be associated with this method of storage I will let all members know for sure.

thanks for the input!

I recall the MFRs/vendors clearly recommending that the doll be stored laying down flat and naked.

Do not doubt that at all, but the vendor that I purchased April from RLSD is selling a hanging system and they claim that they have conferred with WMdolls and have their blessings. So far it is working great for me.

Thanks for the input.

Please let us know how the hanging system works out after a few months have passed. I would love to store my TPE dolls hanging if it doesn't cause damage.

Anyone have any idea what the thread size and pitch is for the neck bolt? Im thinking its m16 x 2.0. I just got my 2nd doll today and there isn't a lot of room on my bed to store both at the same time. So I will experiment with hanging one. I have a memory foam mattress by the way so they sleep comfortably on there.
