Questions Before Repairing My Doll
I always receive a lot of good inputs from this forum, so I guess asking you guys before I start repairing my doll is a foregone conclusion:
1. I always read that for small tears one should use the glue instead of the
silicone (both can be purchased from Matt). I found that tears repaired with
glue are visible (white colour). So why not use silicone for every repair?
My guess is it is just a matter of choice and convinience?
2. I also read that one should use acetone to cleanup the area where the
tear occurs before doing any repair work. I am not experienced with
acetone, so my question is: won't acetone damage the skin colour of the
silicone? I am not talking about the painted areas such as nipples since I
think it WILL wipe out the colour, but areas such as thighs. Can I just clean
the area with soap?
Thanks a gazillion!

2) THE GLUE THAT COMES WITH YOUR DOLL IS STRONGER THAN THE TWO-PART SILICONE.
3) The two-part silicone is used for fills, as in rebuilding the behind the knees area on an old realdoll.
4) If you pin the area together that you are glueing you won't see the repair when it is finished curing.
5) You can mix make-up in the silicone glue to tint it for repair work.
You could use the two part for any repair but keep in mind it's runny so you will need to contol it. (latex sheeting or positioning)
I posted my experience with two part and an idea to get the air out of it after mixing: Silicone use
Hope this helps, Also you can mix a small amount of flesh tone oil-base artists paint in the adhesive so it matches better.
