How To Remove TPE Stains in less than 10 seconds

Post by digitaldavid »

I've cleaned my silicone dolls in the past using this method ... So, when my TPE doll got stained, I figured the same thing would work.. And it does....

I let the following sit for about a day, giving time for the inks and grease to dry.. The pen marks were pretty deep in there. I cleaned the first 2 in less than 10 seconds. The "Permanent" one took about a minute.. However, I was using just Q-Tips.. Soap does nothing to these marks.

Test - ink from a pen
Grease Mark - grease from the screws on the doll
Permanent - Permanent Sharpie ink

Magic Method: Odorless Mineral Spirits..

Interesting. But how about a clothing stain?

I noticed isoproponal removed a lot of the 'darker' line stains that occurred where the fabric was folded, but did nothing to the 'bulk' stain over a larger area.
Every day people remind me why I like dolls better.

I removed a blue clothing stain a while back, but it wasn't as bad as some on here.. Perhaps, someone can do a test

Mineral spirits did that? Did the odor reside from the mineral spirits?

The OMS is "Odorless" ... and have a very mild odor if you leave it on, but goes away after a few hours. If you wash it with soft soap after the OMS evaporates, all you smell is the TPE.

That is awesome! I have my eye on some tpe dolls and I have read a lot of posts about tpe staining all over the internet. This give me
a renewed vigor on getting a tpe doll! A sharpie marker just awesome!

This is very interesting. I'm going to file this method in my list of things to try at some point!

The can says "no residue". Does that indicate a neutralizer isn't necessary for cleanup? Soap and water or detergent and water suffice?

If you washed it 1,000 times with soap and water, it wouldn't make a difference. If you scrubbed it with a brush, it would most likely damage the TPE.

It worked for me. I bobbled Nikki's head screwing it on. The back of her head touched the pipe rising up from the neck and...grease stain.
ImageThere's also a stain on her ear from a blue headband I left on for a couple of months. It didn't stain for weeks but it did eventually stain after months of sitting next to her ear.

The grease spot.

It's gone.

There it is.

Unfortunately, it had only a slight effect on the ear stain.

It worked great on a grease stain that had been in place for months but the dye stain from clothing there was some good done but it didn't knock it out.

Do be careful with odorless mineral spirits. I read that a recent Katie owner used some on her face, and BAM, there goes all of her makeup.

What happens is once the ink bleeds too deep into the TPE, it's very difficult to remove with any chemical without damaging it. The chemical basically needs to be in contact with the ink to remove it.

Last night I had a staining occurrence. It was a little red g-string that left red lines all over her. Today, I can just "barely" see one spot. I got a phone call while putting it on, and 5 minutes later I was like damn, what have I done! Nina got lucky, as I had not washed it. I have never flirted disaster with putting black clothing on her.
