Bedside cleaning....

Post by dollguy »

Been reading a bunch, and wanted to see what you guys think of this idea i had. After use,i thought of this as a good/quick cleaning method. She can go from the bed to the chair, with little effort. Insert with luke warm water/soap and let drip dry for 10 minutes. Then add the air hose or hoses depending on how many holes you used. You could air out both holes at once?

Afterwards, apply your vaseline or baby oil and she good to go.

My question with my theory is would the silicone hose be bad? Or any other flaw you see in my idea? I am open for criticism; )

Sorry mate, only just seen this!

I use a camping toilet off eBay for about half what you're looking at with a cheap plastic tub under, a plastic petrol siphon and a cloth on a stick for drying!

Sorry if the pics are upside down as my iPad has a mind of its own when posting pics! The siphon here is a beer siphon pump and I've changed that to the petrol one now!

As for silicone and TPE together, there should be no problem for that occasional use you've described. Just don't leave them together for hours on end! I don't think the fish tank stuff will work myself as there isn't much air coming out of those blocks and they probably will be hard to get in and out as they look pretty fat so there will be no clearance around the sides of them.

For drying as I said I use a cloth on a stick and then coat this kids large bubble blower tube coated in lots of Vaseline to put inside! It's about 15 inches long and about an inch in diameter.

I hope that helps! There are a number of threads already on this so have a search and see some other methods. Cheers, Hollows.

Edit:- just had another look at the chair you found and it will be hard to get your hands under her as the bucket will get in the way - better to have an open chair with a bucket/ tub under like mine I think!

Thanks for the reply ;)

I've heard countless people use the fish tank air pump, that is why i picked the one i did. Trying to get feedback before i start buying stuff.

Your route seems pretty good and cost effective. Anyone else willing to chime in ;)

The douche bottle is a vital, well for me and many others anyway.

The air pump is really THE best way of drying her as it circulates the air within her crevice.
Put the tubes in, leave her for an hour or two while you sip Martini and then go back and switch the pump off. Simples.

Yes, don't use those attachments on the end of the tube. They're meant for fish tanks. Remove them if they come with the pump because they're not only hard but abrasive. Not only that but as Hollows said no clearance. So, just use the tubes.

So, if you go with the pump, douche bottle and that commode you've got it sorted I reckon. Of course there are simpler cheaper douche bottles and I usually sit Hanna on the side of the bed and douche her into a kind of toilet pan which I can just get under her bum.

If you go for an air pump method, I suggest you use OlmanOz's method of putting holes in the tube, especially if the pump is quite powerful!

Good idea, but only on the part of the pipe which goes inside her (Murphyproof).

Hey Hollows, I really like that foldaway bog seat you've got, that's a great idea.

What you picked out is ace but there are cheaper, but still good, options.
The pump, it's worth getting a Tetra quiet air pump, they're good quality and quiet so don't skimp on the pump.
The douche bottles, well I've got one which was provided with Hanna and one I bought from E-bay quite cheaply. Have a look on E-bay you'll see they're from very cheap to moderate so really buy something about mid price.
The commode, well as I say I don't use one but I do think Hollows' folding one is excellent if you want to get one. I use a bed pan for geriatrics, again from E-bay and that was quite cheap too.

Yeah, Mondoon, I got it for Ashaki but I would imagine it's great for festivals when you've had a few beers and can't be arsed to get up in the middle of the night to go to the stinky toilets. It cost about £16 I think! You're supposed to put bin bags on it!

dollguy, I think the chair is a bit of an overkill! It has arms on it so people can lift themselves on and off it. Those arms might be tricky to get your doll on and off the chair! She doesn't help you know! I find my camping toilet so easy! I can put her legs in the air first on the bed and straight lift her on to the chair with nothing in the way. I put warm water with antibacterial hand soap in the tub and squirt away! I let her drip for a while like you said but then put her on a towel on the bed so I can use the cloth on a stick method of drying her.

Cheers, Hollows.

Good choice, you'll be glad you did. They're slightly more expensive but worth it, some can be noisy and I had a Chinese one which failed after a couple of months. I think spare parts are also available for Tetras.
