Vaseline on dolls maintenance

I saw a post somewhere that mentioned you have to put Vaseline on your dolls. Areas that are stretched more often to avoid cracks. Is that once a month or daily? Also what type of Vaseline? The jelly? Or any lotion? Would you rub it in her holes as well to avoid tears? How much do I need to put on? How thick of a layer?

This thread has 25 pages, of the best doll care available, from experts and owners. Your subject is mention extensively. As a voice greater than I has mentioned, read the first 5 pages in their entirety, skim over the rest. If you do a Vaseline search, you'll come with many hits too.

I was reading the thread and I just wanted some clarification on what they mean by Vaseline. Vaseline is a brand with many different lotions. Do they mean just petroleum jelly? Or can I get any of their lotions (preferably their nice smelling ones)? thanks!!

Plain ol petroleum jelly, the unrefined yellowy stuff is best.
If you want to add a scent, you can add that to the powder, clothes and wigs.
