TPE discoloration

Post by Koop »

The hand on my TPE doll has a small poke and some green discoloration (green bubble wrap from packing). Any suggestions on how to fix? I think the only solution is to paint over it, but not sure what the right paint is. Any advice much appreciated!

Look around the forums here. But you should get some WM stain remover from one of the resellers here. I have also heard hydrogen peroxide toothpaste will work. But I do not know
Alisandra - SM-163G
Fallon - JY-166 muscle doll
Arrived (YL 170 thread) - YL-170
TBD - YL-170 (2nd attempt)

Is that on the surface or leaching through from underneath? Copper corrosion maybe?

This is copper discoloration from a damaged finger wire.
Copper turns green when it is exposed to water. The wire is breaking and causing that.

I second Samara! Yes. a bit of a poke through the skin, and copper wire is corroding. Be very cautious with this hand. They're fairly sharp little wires.

Ah. So what's the best way to remedy the copper corrosion? I was thinking of paint, but have yet to determine the right kind of paint. Given that, it might be some work to find a matching color.

Cut her a little there and apply some hardening putty around the wire. Add a little permatex around the wire after( do not get the permatex on your dolll skin outside)
Than glue her baxk up with tpe glue.

May not be the easiest thing to do, but best thing would be to replace all her digits in this hand. Once you see how they're made, it's not extremely difficult.
Any band aid fix will not last before the next wire breaks and floppy hand and fingers will make it impossible to hold any pose.
So many threads here on finger repair, it will give you an idea what is involved.
So have a look around in repair sections here.

I suggest using a clean tightly wound cotton ear swab to clean this small area.

The wire inside is corroded from water seeping in and looks like tarnish.

The cotton swab if done carefully can reach into the hole- being careful not to stretch the hole and make it wider.

If there is water trapped in there- the cotton swab will absorb some or all.

Dolly adhesive.??
Sealing up holes with hot air is bloody awesome!! Once technique is down on how to do it. Beats any glue! Small holes especially.
