Seems solid enough to keep head on, but i cant hang doll inside wardrobe. Glue will not endure doll weigh.

So you hang your doll to store it? If this is a gooseneck, I think we've found your problem.
Oh that is useful info, there was hook included with doll, so i were sure its safe to hung her. Any alternative way to store my doll safely?

Yes they do CC, but is this your default storage method (without any support)? I think you'll agree that the gooseneck design isn't meant to withstand 30-45kg pulling on that one joint for prolong periods - days, weeks, who knows. I don't know how long the OP had his doll hung up but this could certainly be the cause for failure. So OR had the doll shipped with a hook? Strange.

secretagentman;
Can't really count my dolls in that argument! They all have custom neck assemblies that could easily support well over 45kg for years if that is what you wanted to do!

And I really don't know how long they are rated to hang, or even what weight they are rated for, but if the manufacturer OK's that method then it should be OK or the manufacturer should/would let you know that!
How do you know what the design is meant to withstand, have you asked a manufacturer? "Not trying to be argumentative", but you did make a specific claim "the gooseneck design isn't meant to withstand 30-45kg pulling on that one joint for prolong periods" And I would really like to know!

The opposite to hanging is standing and this is one of the reasons that I really advocate standing dolls.

Best wishes

CC, you asked a good question yet I think you already know the conventional wisdom here.

My assumption regarding the gooseneck is based on the specs for flexible electrical conduit, which is essentially what the necks are made from. This type of conduit is only meant to protect conductors in limited applications. It is not designed to support weight of any kind. I've installed hundreds of feet of this stuff and know it can suspend some weight but for how long? No one knows because it's not designed for this purpose nor is it designed to be welded to a frame.

That said, I doubt any manufacturer would know the capacities since they don't make these components themselves and frankly, I doubt they would know the strength of their own welds since the quality is so variable.

And as Harem noted, the standing option is a good one!

cheers

@secretagentman; First, thank you for taking it the way that it was intended. Since, as far as I know, I have performed more neck repairs than anyone. Easily over 90% of all of the damaged necks that I have come across showed evidence of the damage having been done before the doll was even molded. I am sure that it would excelerate the onset of premature failure if damage was already done. One thing I can assure you is they all use stainless steal spiral wound pipe, not electrical flexible conduit. What they use is much heavier. But it was still a very bad design!

Have a great day.

yes i also use the hanging method.... it helped me to avoid from any damage rather than lying horizontally.
