Note: Posts by people looking for appraisals or recommended selling prices should be placed in the appropriate manufacturer forum or the Dolls in general if no manufacturer forum exists for that Doll. This is where you are most likely to get accurate advice on the subject

For Sale posts must meet the following guidelines:
1. Seller's Price or best offer over an amount.
2. A recent photo of the actual item for sale is required.....no links to photos not your own.
3. Age of the item for sale and any damage.
4. Shipping limitations ( local/international ) and who will pay for it, also please mention your general location.
5. Post when the item is sold.
6. Moderators reserve the right to delete posts not relevant to the Sale.

Questions about the for sale item are okay.

Images from The Doll Album can be used to sell your doll by providing the URL in your post.

Instructions for creating/naming albums are in Sticky posts in the Tutorials On Using TDF Forum.

For Sale posts are not to be cross-posted in another forum.
Images used must either be your own, or used with permission.

To maybe explain those rules quoted a little more. If somebody wants to sell something, he should show a recent picture of the item (doll). I always wondered about all that stupid "I can't find my digital camera... it actually pulled my leg yesterday, but I can't find it now" No stupid excuses. Precisely this rule means if a seller consistently refuses to show the item, forum management reserves the right to remove the thread. Once the item is sold, the seller has to clearly confirm it is sold. This is to avoid that newbies send money because they didn't know the doll is sold. [we already had that...] Therefore, once the seller confirms the item is sold, for sale threads will be locked with a note that dolly is sold. Start a fresh thread to post you have dolly now. If the seller doesn't confirm, the thread will be locked once moderators find out that dolly is sold.

If I may make a suggestion, Although i am new here I noticed a reocourring problem...General Location of seller. I understand and agree with not posting exact address, but it is frustrating if a seller says "pick up" or some shipping details are not clear. It would be so simple to just give nearest Large City or General location before seller or potential buyer gets frustrated waiting for responces to this easaly answered question. Thanks for listining...

Actually, not a bad idea at all, this question is indeed asked most of the time, and is important to know, in case of pick-up, or when it's in another country, but also, to get an estimate in shipping costs.

So, it's a good addition to the rules, and I've added it to For Sale Rule #4

Yep, what I've been thinking since a long time... Mostly, I think when a seller mentions "local pick-up" he means to say he's not willing to deal with shipping. Then again, whoever is going to match this requirement as a buyer will need to know where the doll is. While the address is subject to pm and done deal of course, it's pretty useless to not give a general location. It's in the interest of both buyer and seller, so the buyer knows if he can even get there and the seller doesn't need to answer dozens of pms to just say "I'm elsewhere".

I do want to commend you all on a GREAT site and a GREAT job, I am enjoying getting to know other members ,its nice to find so many people with the same intrest! Yes, there is a time window, which is 24 hours.
You can send the changes to a staff member of your choice, and they'll make the change for you.

BTW, how long do ads run before they expire and are dropped?
The for sale listings only seem to go back 3 pages.

We prefer the PM approach.

Ads have a 6 month period, unless it gets bumped by the one who started the thread (you). But if you don't log in on the forum for 3 months, the ad will be removed.

If members are posting on the ad, but receive no response, we usually post a notice with a 48 hour time window, and if there's no update, the ad gets removed at a moderators discretion.
