The Dodgeman Stance Mod

Post by Rocky-DollStacey »

Stance Modification
So as you guys may have noticed in the last set of bikini photos of Christy her stance/posture was greatly improved and appears more natural and realistic than previous photoshoots. The reason for this improvement is due to a new Stance Modification. In the past I had struggled a bit with getting Christy to stand straight due to the fact that the neck bolt doesn't quite center her weight properly when using a hanging/gantry style stand. She always would lean too far forward and it made it difficult to pose her so that it looked natural. A couple of our great TDF members noticed this and provided me with some information and links to ideas for making a stance modification. I made one of the modification but wasn't happy with the end results. It did improve her posture, but it was so close to the body that it blocked her head from being able to go all the way back so she always was looking down, also it made it extremely difficult to put her wigs on or even adjust them. :shakefist: Needless to say I trashed the mod and went back to the old way of just hanging her from the eye-hook.

About a week ago my good friend from the TDF community Dodgeman sent me a message about ideas for a new stance mod. If you've ever had a conversation with Dodgeman you would know that not only is he a very talented fabricator and welder but also that he is an all around great guy and is always very nice and helpful to the TDF community. Dodge came up with a fantastic design and wanted to know if I was interested in him building one for me. What he created was a masterfully built Stance Mod that was just perfect for what I was needing. It has many great features that makes this the best stance mods I've seen. It's built completely out of light-weight stainless steel so it doesn't need to be painted and you never have to worry about rust, its very light but extremely strong. The attention to detail is amazing, perfect welds and he smoothed and chamfered every edge to prevent any possibility of damaging the doll. The mod has various adjustable features so that you can change the height of the stance and fine tune the center weight of the doll. The Mod provides a large amount of space above and behind the head so positioning her head and putting on wigs is very easy. He made connecting the mod to the doll super easy by using a stainless T-bolt that requires no tools to attach. The mod can be taken apart for easy attachment to the doll or for compact storage. This is a fantastic mod that will last forever and Dodge deserves a lot of credit for how well my last set of picture came out and for all future photos I take. Bellow are several photos of the mod together and taken apart and also shots of it connected to Christy (click images for lager sized photos). Thank you again Dodgeman for this amazing mod!  Im calling mine "The DodgeStance" until he comes up with a better name for it :

Thanks Rocky! & dodgeman for this cool mod... If I go with ceiling hook I'd definitely want one of these...

(Mmm Maybe I can use this on top of existing rd stand for the shorter BT3..? Nah, It would probably unbalance the stand..)

Yes I have been privileged enough to have conversations with Dodgeman. He has also given me very helpful advice on repairs that I needed to make... To say Dodgeman is an all around great guy is an undisputable truth and also an understatement. He is a Master Fabricator and I am sure a MASTER at all that he does!! Both professionally and personally.

Speaking of masters... Master photographer Rocky!!! Those are some damn fine pics!!!... The poses are so lifelike . You would have a damn hard time trying to pass her off as a doll!!

I have also been lucky enough to have had dodgemans help and advise on a few things, I have always been staggered by the detailed, helpful, in depth answers and ideas from dodgeman and he is a really top notch guy as well.
You would go a long way to try and find a more helpful, honest, hard working guy.
This stance mod is another example and the results with the poses in Rocky's recent photos using it are breath taking! Well done on the ideas and results guys

The only thing that scares me about it is taking out the original neck bolt, I took Jades out once and had such a hard time getting it back in! Although it would eliminate the damage that can happen to the Body A under the neck bolt
from the metal rest digging into the skin when you lift her off the rest.

But really nice job guys! Those poses are the most realistic standing poses of a Real Doll I have ever seen. :D

Hi Rocky-DollStacey,
Awesome job and well designed DodgeStance
I too built a such device (with galv. 3/8" fittings and tubes) for testing purpose but it looks less professional and I will make a new one from stainless steel as this tool is the all best for standing poses.
What I like is how you solved the problem to connect the stance to the 3/8" admission thread. The T-bolt connection (simple to use) and the height and center adjusting ability (fine tuning) makes this tool so perfect and Christy likes it too.

Thanks to you and dodgeman for your help to us,

Guy

Holy crap, your photos are getting better and better. Nice job man! Just had to tell you personally! Cool design (and fabrication!) on the stance modifier also. I have one similar somewhere, might have to dig it up for my next shoot :)

Cheers!

Thank you all for the great comments on the Stance Modifier and on the photos, you guys are awesome and I sure Dodge feels the same way. I'm sure he will share that sentiment here soon enough.

Thank you so much Matt, It truly is awesome that the guy behind the creation of these amazing dolls has such high regards for my photos. Your creations are the reason I started messing around with the camera just two years ago and I have enjoyed it ever since. Thank you for the talent and hard work you and your team has shared with so many of us!

WOW, all of you great people here have paid me quite a compliment on my fabrication abilities and personality and I thank ALL of you, Rocky, Playtime, Hostage, SiliconeWorld, Smoke, Supersoul, Siliconefun, Citadelfox, Swanhealy, Selobl, And OUR great friend Matt McMullen the creator of our beautiful dolls! :D

The stance modifier is based on another one built by a former member of the forum and made of pipe fittings however, I took the time to redesign it, make it out of better materials and made it fully adjustable so it could be taken apart and more easily attached to a doll without doing any potential damage to any doll that the modifier is used with! The modifier will work with any doll that has a 3/8-16 threaded port in the neck area and is (designed) to be hung or stored in that fashion! The adjustments will allow the user to find the best weight distribution or balance when posing a doll for photography and with Rocky's talent shooting photos of his dolls, the modifier works great! As Smoke said, Rocky will have a hard time passing Christy off as a doll and the way she looks in the latest photos, I totally agree with him as Christy looks ALIVE!

Rocky and I thought that there would be some interest in this modifier after some photos were posted of his doll being posed in a more lifelike fashion and he revealed the secret behind the improvements! He asked me if it was OK to make a post about the modifier and I gladly told him to go for it as I know that the members here would appreciate being shown how a device like this one works and how it can improve the posing and photo quality of these dolls! :D

Looking ahead, I have brought in and stocked the material to make a few of these modifiers. If anyone here in the lower 48 States is interested in one of these modifiers, I can build them one at a time to order (Much like our RealDolls) and ship them through the USPS! Just send me a PM and we will discuss it! I am currently building a few new aluminum doll stands for 3 of my dolls and a gantry for my own photo work! I work a full time job and do my metal fabrication in the evenings on the side! I think I will need to build one of these for myself to help with my photo work also, whenever I get the time that is! :D

Thank you all again for the nice compliments directed to Rocky and myself by our good friends here on TDF! :D
