Daz3D which is free, but I render with Otoy Octane render, which I think was around $500.jacobbab wrote:What software do you use?KiltedCowboy wrote:Nope, not real..... Re: Fembot Doll Creation
Let's compare Fembots to VR. 25+ years ago virtual reality hit the stage. Now what people WANT.. is a holodeck. What they got out of VR is a clunky, expensive low res atari video game, that didn't even come close to the graphics of regular cabinet video games of the day. Now some 25 years later, graphic processing has increased by orders of magnitude, and the price of all the components have come down by orders of magnitude. This set the stage for maybe VR to come closer to people's expectations.
So after a few years of development, several VR headsets came to market last year. WAY better than what was available 25ish years ago, but still has problems. 1) They are still kind of expensive-ish 2) You have to have a new generation console to run them on or a $1000+ gaming PC. 3) There aren't any really "killer" must have games out for them. 4) They are still tethered by wires back to the pc/console 4) other misc. issues. So due to all that, as far as I can tell, the actual reception/sales of these units have been lackluster. Now, maybe a price drop, another iteration of improvement and a couple killer games/applications and maybe they will take off.. or maybe not. But AT best what you can say about VR, is that after 25 years, the current generation of VR is finally just the FIRST real step towards what we really want.. which is a holodeck (or something equally as amazing). And we are not there yet, nor will we be anytime in the foreseeable future.
I feel the same way about Fembots. What, I think most want, is a hot programmable personal pornstar, who is indistinguishable from a real person. However, the best we have right now, would be the equivalent of what VR was 25 years ago... not close to our expectations. And there are tons of technological barriers that have to be crossed to get there. Motors/batteries/materials/AI/Processing etc.. not to mention the cultural hurdles that would have to be crossed, then you would still end up with something that few could afford, and the one's that could, rent real porn stars whenever they want. So I don't see "Fembots", at least not ones that meet our expectations of what we actually want, coming anytime soon... probably not within any of our lifetimes.
I think VR/Brain-computer interfaces may give us closer experience to what we want before "fembots" ever become a reality.

here some tutorials for mckibben actuator:

and what you are thinking of is haptic feedback
@mannequin man
do you have a raspberrypi 1, 2 or 3?
@OwnerfckDoll
I have thought about everything you have said and funnily I am also into vr creation as well, and I will elaborate my thoughts and concerns on the matter in a later post I need to go to physical therapy and just wanted to make a quick post to get my five post probation out of the way before I go

Re: Fembot Doll Creation
Myself ?.. I cant say I agree with you guys on all this VR ( Virtual Reality ) stuff. but hey, it's all good. reckon ya'll must be younger, or i'm old school..lol..hey, but ya know what ? each to their own man ! I reckon I just like being a "Hands On" kinda guy ? I like the physical, real aspect of Love Dolls, interaction, etc. now having said that, dont get me wrong, I am a Mastubatory expert...lmao. just saying that I get more turned on by the real dynamics of a product I can touch. ...another reason VR is not for me, I am completely blind in 1 eye. so,....there's another Idaho Spud up the ass I couldn't enjoy even if i wanted to.....damnit to hell !!! anyway,....I am casting a back half of that upper Torso today & I may even cast the Lower half as well here soon ? that way I can kinda get an idea to build the whole framing. man, you talk about an undertaking. here are some old pics of an "(Un-Operational) Robot/Fembot arm Prop that I made for a Star Wars Exhibit I did years ago. ( it was supposed to be a prosthetic arm for a Darth Vader lifesize figure I displayed ) I think I sold this thing awhile back, but found the pics on my TBD. so, I think I have a basic knowledge of how to build robotics ? idk. reckon we'll see.Ownerfckdoll wrote:I think some parralles can be drawn here. The problem with your comparison is that the last major hype for vr was the virtual boy which failed due lack of software support and technical limitations but with the hype dead didn't mean in that time the technology wasn't there. When the first iphone came out the technology for the vr headsets were there since essentially a vr headset is just one or two lcd screens and gyroscopes, so I believe you should look at when Palmer Luckey launched his kickstarter in 2012 to 2016 when occulus first came out. Since then with google cardboard alone there has been 25 million downloads and users and enough interest in vr to have every major software company minus apple to show interest in vr, not only that every chip maker(Qualqomm, AMD, Nvidia ) is building their stuff around vr as a selling point. To compare if you look at the history of neural networks which goes back to the 1960s had a similar fate as the virtual boy lots of hype followed by disappointment then lack of funding and development this was called the "AI winter" and actually there's a term called hype cycle which discuss these types of things. And now look everything is using neural networks and again every tech company is putting the money and resources behind because one they need it for themselves to stand apart from the competition and for more practical reasons. Just a few years ago they were saying it would be another 50 years before an a.i could beat a human at go and now Alphago is routinely beating the best at go. Now with the no "killer" apps or games that's more of learning curve because its still a new platform right now most of the developers are first indie developers and essentially just making regular traditional games with vr mode the games will come just look at the evolution of game software and controls from the atari or even the super nintendo to now it just going to take one creative person to make a new genre. Also we have the capabilities to create a wireless headset look at googles project tango combine that with daydream vr boom wireless room tracking headset also why haven't anyone created an android powered standalone headset which would be affordable and more accessible to people since google cardboard, gear vr and daydream vr(which I have and is great) are a success since you don't need a pc, also look at vridge app on android. Listen I could go on for days about these type of things but all I gotta say is that I'm not trying to build a Boeing 757 I'm just trying to lay the ground work to get there.Ownerfckdoll wrote:I think some parralles can be drawn here. Now with that being said there is no current hype for a bipedal humanoid (from a virtual boy or a neural network in the 70's type of hype), because one there's no real need for it and two there's no real want for it. The only reason we are getting closer to a good chatbot is because apple put siri on iphones slowly building interest and making other companies feel like they need they're own siri thus leading the way to echo dots and google homes which will lead into your personal turing test clearing chatbot. So now the question is how do we get people to want a bipedal android so we can get bigger companies to say we need our own? I have some ideas but that's down the line.
Now to address the social stigma how I were to build a full robot is to do it in such a way as Aosp (Android Open Source Project) is to normal android os which is the aosp is the normal unmodified basic code anyone can you use and build how they want to build their own android os device such as Samsung, Amazon and Google. So with what I will call for now is HOSP(Humanoid Open Source Project) is build out the most basic functions the robot will need minus any mention of sex or sex related parts to avoid potential companies not wanting to be associated with it, then who ever decides to take it upon themselves to build a sex bot out of it will get the blame and not the original project. I mean hell there's already a campaign against sexbots.
To address your technological barriers
Motors:
I'm personally trying to move away from servos as much as reasonably possible if you check my previous post I put some alternatives I will explain pros and cons of each in a post later but two things about them are they are cheap to make and strong.
Batteries:
I'm not concerned about that at the moment but I guess I can ask you how long do reasonably think a first generation fembot should last? 3, 10, 24 hours?
Materials:
3d printers reduce cost and if you think I'm going to make a prototype out of titanium just remember the prototype for the rift was two phone screens and duct tape.
AI:
I'm not sure what you mean exactly if you're talking about neural networks then yeah I'm planing on using it to make the robot walk better(when I get there), if you're talking about a personal companion chatbot that's not on my itinerary that would take a huge undertaking with a huge team to make and then you will need to break that down into a good tts, stt, language parser etc. not only that everyone and their mothers are working on that at the moment I can't compete with them but if anyone wants that I suggest they head over to mycroft.ai and look at that project and help or fork it since that's the only free opensource option we have.
Processing:
I've previously mentioned fpga and arm cpu for on-the-doll processing and a computer for a more heavy duty workload I will elaborate more in a future post. Cloud computing is a thing and setting up an aws server for training neural networks is cheaper than building out a full capable computer. Also just an arm board can be used if it good enough for a self driving car it should be good enough for a robot nvidia tegra x1 is an example.
