OK, before any formalities happen, I would like to thank all who PM'd me and offered me deals for their Candy18s. I could only accept one deal, and I am sorry for those who are left out.

Now on to the details.

When one member posted in the For Sale forum their Candy18 for $325, I was willing to have that member (and he was too) wait until the 3rd of July until I had the $325 saved up. I was even squirreling away the money until then.

Then another member (uch) PM'd me a few minutes after I sent this member a PM and posted the message on the public forum offering me his Candy18 for a price I could go for, he was willing to go as low as $100. I told him I could do $100. Then a few minutes later, he PM'd back his info, and told me that he's willing to split the shipping costs with me, and he told me to make the check for $110, and he'll call it even.

I then transferred the money out of my savings account to my checking and wrote the check with an enclosing letter and mailed it out that night. Of course, the Postal Service wouldn't come until that afternoon to my apartment community to take the letter to his destination, and the mailboxes are securely locked, even the outgoing mail slots. You need a key to access your mailbox, and the mail carrier needs a key to both access the mailboxes to place mail in the chutes (if you wanna call it that) and take any outgoing mail.

I didn't want to tell my fiancee right away because I didn't anticipate a response yet. I waited until the next day and showed the PM to her, but she couldn't read it and asked me what it said. I told her that I bought a doll, and then she got a bit (no, very) upset. It lasted throughout the night, with her thinking that I was going to replace her with the doll. It took until today to calm her down to accept Daphne as the toy that we share and that Kat is my woman, until death do we part. Right now she's cool about it.

So, I'm waiting to get Daphne home, but I don't know what I'm going to do with her at the moment that I get her. I'll have to wait until the 3rd to get a digital camera (I saw a nice one for $80 at the Rite Aid) so I can post pictures as soon as I can.

So, Kat and I are going to welcome Daphne home and when we do, I don't know what to do the moment she comes home, but I'll let you all know.

Just an Idea to Share... I don't know about your circumstances...

but do you have a pet for Kat?

If you don't have pet.. I would buy her a little puppy or kitten & give her something that will love her and she can Hug....

I don't know maybe Kat hates cats... sorry... :?:

It sounds like she is having a rough time. I think pets can give love, happines, & joy... even if they are just stupid animals

Why are people willing to sell their Candy 18's for $100?

Well, a neighbor suggested we find a toybreed dog (i.e., a Chihuahua, what she wants), because we see almost daily this dog (who is named "Rusty" and is a Chihuahua) and then it came to mind that she wanted one then and there.

I'm going to have to save my pennies for a dog like that... but I don't know how a puppy's going to act with Daphne (the doll) in the house. After all, my mom's dog, an Italian Greyhound named Patrick snarled every time I had one of my inflatables in bed with me :!: (He'd growl until I'd put it away, and he'd run scared if I tried introducing the doll to him. And he was a full-grown dog by the time I had an inflatable with me.)

Each dog's mileage will vary with dolls in the house, fwiw. While I don't know if the dog we're thinking of getting (we really haven't gotten off the ground for a dog yet) will act with a life-sized doll, but MMWV.

To change the subject back on topic, I have already thought of going to Thrift Store USA on Little Creek Road to get a skirt for Daphne (I'm going to get a Juniors' size just to be on the safe side)--Screw going to Kohl's at Pembroke Mall or anywhere else (like Wal-Mart) to get something new. But the only thing new that I'm going to get is the "There's no place like 127.0.0.1" Babydoll Tshirt from ThinkGeek.com, but in a Small.

And it's taking some time, but sure enough, Kat's accepting Daphne.

Well, he told me that it was a demo model of the Deluxe kind that itsme gave to him to "beta test" in a sense and since uch had no more room to store another doll, let alone try her out, it seemed like that he had to make room, so he made me an offer.

I know that it's worth at least $800 brand new (without the sale price), but it's something that would be taking up space in uch's home so he was kind enough to basically give me the doll. He was going to let me have her for any price, but the lowest he could go was $100. And all I had was enough to pay for the doll at its lowest price he was offering and he was willing to split the shipping costs with me.

But I hope this clears it up.

Congrats of your doll Casper (Ghostman  ).

Keep reassuring Kathryn that Daphne is a toy, and NOT a replacement for her, and try to include Kathyn as much as she wants to be included.

And Casper, you MAY want to change your sig, Kat might be upset that you put her last... I know, it don't seem that important to us guys, but women get real sensative about things like that

Thanks for the kind words Slots. I wish you still lived in my neck of the woods so that I could have seen your workshop. I hated to let one of my dolls leave, but I hated even more for her to sit around unloved. :( So when I saw the post for Casperghostman (I will refer to him as Cgm for the rest of this post since Im lazy :) ), I knew what I had to do. Sounds like the perfect home for her, that is, as long as Kat is ok with it (I can't help but stress that point Cgm... be very sensitive about this issue with your girfriend; dolls come and go, but real girl love trumps all in my book.) But on the purely human tip, I always try to help people out when I can. Despite my current situation and the disappointments of the past year, I have been blessed in many ways. I still have a lot of drama going on, but Ive kept up with Cgm's posts on the forum and they revealed that he also has his share of issues. So I hope this makes life a little nicer for you Cgm and my prayers are still with you and Kat.

I'm glad that you stepped in at the right time. While I was willing to get the $325 to duwanna, and he was willing to wait, but at least you understood my special circumstances. Yes, I know what it's like to be "financially challenged," after all, I have bills coming out of my ass. Bills like dentist, psychiatrist (she diagnosed me with "High-Functioning Autism," and I can live with that--ok, TMI), I have to owe Kat some money (for something I asked her to get for me) and I have to buy some groceries, even though that I've been living off of takeout food for the past few weeks.

Yes, Kat is OK with it. But she wasn't at first. We're working on certain times of the day/week to let me have some time with Daphne, but the times and days of the week would have to be worked out further.

Yes, small world, ain't it? While I'm not that lucky and got a RealDoll and a 1PC at a "steal" like you did, but I believe in fate. Maybe fate may make me lucky and I may be able to squirrel away a bit more money and buy a used RealDoll or something similar. I tell you, if I had $2000 and a way to get to Maryland, I'd have midnight's Melanie right now. (But since Kat and I disagree with a RealGirl named Melanie, it wouldn't be feasible right now.)

I know that I have some issues myself, but like Kat is, I'm a fighter also. While I may be more passive, but I strive to work my issues out.

Congratulations Casper on your Daphne. And uch, your generosity is very heartwarming.

It takes a big soul to think of others while you are experiencing life's dramas.

Just an update: I have scheduled a pickup time for tomorrow by UPS. I miscalculated the shipping charge (it was double of what I quoted) but no worries, as I will pay the difference. Let me know when she gets there CGM. :D

I'm now tracking it diligently. But I know that I won't get an update on the status until Monday, maybe that afternoon.

So, to quote one of my "reduxes":

Quote:
The package would get held up on a Sunday afternoon
I was dozing by the TV
On a day bed with no room
No room to lay out flat with her there by my side
One eye on her beauty, one eye on Good Eats

("Images of Doll Loving," a Redux of "Images of Loving" by Squeeze--2nd verse.)

I didn't bother going through the "procedure" to get her tracked (y'know, go to www.ups.com , find the link to track a shipment and type in or copy and paste a tracking number), I instead "hacked" one of my ThinkGeek UPS shipment tracking URLs, because I figured out it's the same structure. (When I order from ThinkGeek, they always email me tracking numbers when my order gets shipped.)

The shipment's status is "In Transit - On Time" with a scheduled delivery date of 05 July 2007. Of course, that is my brother's birthday, so I hope he doesn't want to come over to drink with me and gets all pissed off that I have a doll now (before I go into TMI, I'll stop here)...

Well, I'm going to listen to my CD (Daphne Holland's Homecoming (And Songs For Kat) 1.0.1) because there are only two things on TV: Jack and Shit, and Jack left town. OK, I saw Army of Darkness on DVD last night, and that's my most favorite line from that movie. OK, the real line is:

Quote:
Well, hello there Mr. Fancy Pants! I've got news for you. You're taking but two things with you: Jack and Shit, and Jack left town.

OK, I'm rambling on and on. And uch, you'll be the first to know when Daphne arrives.
