Well, now there's no turning back, I just sent off the order today for my Taffy, that we're gonna name Sarah Nicole Holland. (The "Nicole" in Sarah's name is a small, but humble tribute to Nicki, who just left mine and the TDF families not too long ago.)
This morning, when I found out that my money was ready, I did a late-night excursion to Wawa and got myself three 16-ounce cans of Monster Energy, a small bag of TGI Friday's potato skin snacks, a fried cherry pie; and Kat a Pepperoni and cheese snack cup with crackers and a 1.5 liter bottle of water. I then went to the ATM and pulled out about half of the price itsme quoted (and I am deeply sorry that I cannot mention the price, because he warned me that if I did mention it, others would come clamoring to him asking him to make the same deal), but since the Wawa ATM can only dispense $10 and $20 bills, I had to get enough just to cover half of the price plus any money order fee. But there is a 24-hour grocery store near the Wawa, and it does sell money orders, but at the time I went to pull out the money, their customer service desk was closed. So, I decided to wait until the other grocery store opened, which was seven in the morning, to go and get my money order. So, I caffeinated myself and waited until 7AM to get the initial money order to get Sarah. (But, I took a nap round 3 AM because I was starting to have a caffeine crash. I woke up about 7:30.)
So, I went to the other grocery store and purchased my money order, plus a 24-ounce bottle of beer (Smirnoff Ice Green Apple Bite), 2 4-packs of Vitamin Water, a box of Ritz crackers and Triscuit wafers, a meat and cheese party platter from the self-service section of the deli, and a Pepsi Throwback for the walk home. (I know, I'm not usually a Pepsi drinker, I'm more of a Coca-Cola drinker. But if it's Pepsi Throwback, I'll make an exception.) When I got home, I did as itsme requested to send off the order (and I handwritten it, I didn't feel like firing up my word processor, OpenOffice.org Writer--I NEVER use Word), stuck it in an envelope, written the addresses on it, closed it, stuck a stamp on it and took it out to be put in the mail.
So, now it has been done, the initial payment is now in the mail and now there is no turning back. In the next two weeks, when I get my next paycheck, I'm going to send out 1/2 of the remaining 1/2, then the next two weeks, the remaining portion, because Daphne is now starting to get impatient. So, to please her, I'm going to do my best to get her sister Sarah home as quickly as possible because Daphne likes to be satisfied and this way I'm trying to get her home as quickly as my wallet would let me.
And again, thanks itsme for your generosity and making doll ownership a reality for more people without draining their life savings or wondering how they would be able to save that large amount. Thanks again.
CGM, Kathryn, Daphne and Sarah

Just so people would know, Sarah's full name isn't Sarah Ann Holland, it is Sarah Nicole Holland. The "Nicole" in Sarah's name is meant as a small, but humble tribute to Nicki, who just left this world not too long ago.
Kat decided to do that right after 2010 just rang in because I asked her if the name was okay, she said that she was okay with Sarah, but not okay with Ann, and chosen Nicole instead because she knew that Nicki struggled so long to stay intact as long as possible but knew that her life was soon ending and so Nicki's last words were to remember her. And going by Nicki's wishes, we have decided to change Sarah's middle name from Ann, a way-too-common middle name, to Nicole, because Nicki's "real name" was Nicole.
Of course, since Daphne's full name is Daphne Catherine Holland, with the Holland from Jools Holland of Squeeze, which was at first decided upon when I was struggling with choosing a last name for Daphne herself, until I picked up my bottle of Heineken when I just returned to TDF back in June 2007 announcing my soon-to-be purchase of a RSSD CandyEighteen, I was on two Squeeze (BritPop band) Web sites, and while deciding on which last name to use, almost wanting to use Tilbrook again but decided not to, basically wanting to give up and assign Daphne the last name of Tilbrook, until I picked up my bottle of beer and saw the phrase on the bottom of the front label, "Brewed in Holland." Right then and there I knew that Daphne Holland sounded better than Daphne Tilbrook. And so, it came to be that Daphne has had the Holland surname for quite a while and it ain't ever gonna change.
And ever since Daphne said "Hey, since Sarah is going to be a RSSD instead of another brand of doll, for great justice, she is my sister!" And so, with Daphne's statement of Sarah being her sister, it saved me a shit ton of time trying to remember all of who has been in Squeeze, trying to sound out the names of the doll's chosen name with the potential Squeeze member's last name, discarding each and every one until one sounds "about right," then I try sounding out the one combo that sounds "about right" a few times until it seems to "click," and then that becomes the doll's name. Well, since Daphne stated that Sarah's her sister, naturally, unless Daphne's "parents" remarried and by some nature that Sarah's her half-sister, the sister would share the same last name of the other sister.
And if anyone wants to know what consists of the Homecoming Soundtrack CD, here is the track listing, burned in K3B, a Nero Burning ROM clone for the KDE desktop, its look and feel is almost similar to Nero--and no, there is no Windows port, I checked, the "K3B" for Windows is some sort of optimization tool... I'd recommend if you're gonna burn Audio CD's from MP3's in K3B, and you're using Kubuntu (or Ubuntu with the KDE libraries), you have to type "sudo apt-get install kubuntu-restricted-extras" in a terminal in order to get the MPEG decoder or it will not work.
But anyway, here's the track listing:
01. Your Tour of the Apple IIGS (Intro) -- Apple, Inc.
02. The Bad Touch -- The Bloodhound Gang
03. If I Didn't Love You -- Squeeze
04. Unbelievable -- Diamond Rio
05. Epic -- Faith No More
06. (This Could Be) The Last Time -- Squeeze
07. My Baby Loves Me Just The Way That I Am -- Martina McBride
08. All I Wanna Do -- Sugarland
09. Enjoy The Silence -- Depeche Mode
10. How Do I Live -- Leann Rimes
11. Always On My Mind -- The Pet Shop Boys (This is the only cover Daphne and I like better than the original, which was originally sung by Willie Nelson)
12. Ain't Goin' Down 'Til The Sun Comes Up -- Garth Brooks
13. I Wanna Love Somebody Like You -- Keith Urban / If I Didn't Love You (Reprise) -- Squeeze [This was some freak accident, I didn't realize it until I played it, but Daphne and I like it somehow]
14. Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy -- Big and Rich
15. Tempted -- Squeeze
16. Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now (Outro 1) -- Starship
17. Sonic's Ending/Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Cast of Characters (Ending Credits) (Outro 2) -- Sega/Sonic Team
18. Final Fantasy VII Staff Roll (Outro 3) -- Nobuo Uematsu
19. Faxanadu Endgame Victory Music (Outro 4) -- Nihon Falcom/Hudson Soft
So, all Daphne and I (Daphne especially) can do is wait until my final payment to itsme is sent off, I get confirmation that the payments have been received and that my order will be made, and Daphne can get her sister home soon. Until then, the only thing I can do to soothe Daphne is tell her that I will be faithful on making my payments to itsme and she will get her sister home soon, but not a moment too soon.
(I can hear Daphne go "w00t" in the background.)

For one, I am a Linux user, and since Ubuntu comes with OpenOffice.org, there really is no need to purchase a separate copy of Microsoft Office, install it and eventually activate it; and Office versions after Office 97 are rated "junk" in WINE (Windows application layer for Linux), meaning they will run slow as molasses in January or not work at all. And anyway, I cannot afford whatever Microsoft charges for Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student Edition, even though it really isn't that much FWIW, because OpenOffice.org is free (both in license freedom and price), and there are ports galore, even there is a Windows version of it, which I use in my Windows partition. And anyway, OpenOffice.org can read Office files (except the newer Office 2007 .docx, .xlsx, whatever, files), so I really don't need a program that hogs resources and memory, and OpenOffice.org uses a small memory footprint.
To find out about or download OpenOffice.org, go to http://www.openoffice.org/ (That seemed pretty obvious, huh?)

Thanks. I've been using computers for years, yet never really know what I'm using, you know? One thing I never looked into was computers, software, applications, I usually just play around with whatever my computer comes with, and don't read anything about the programs, just open them and click on stuff. Your knowledge in this area, is profound. Mine, is super duper shallow. Thanks again!

No problem.
Thing is, there are a bunch of free (as in license and sometimes no-cost) and open-source software solutions that can do almost anything that proprietary software can do. While FLOSS software cannot really be compared feature-to-feature exactly to justify its cost, but they work, updates (both major and minor releases) are certain because they are released by the community when needed and not released whenever the publisher feels like they need to be; and if there's a critical bug that compromises satisfactory operation of the program, then the community is on it like stink on shit to fix that bug and come up with an update in due time so more people don't have to deal with it.
Most Linux distributions have package maintainers for specific packages (programs) in each distribution's pool (catalog of available software). I know Debian and Ubuntu have package maintainers for each package available in each architecture (i386, PowerPC, ARM, SPARC, et al), and in the Debian Way of package management, the package maintainer gives approval or denial to each package update so it can be released into the stream (or not). That way, harmful code isn't sneaked into the program unknowingly, released into the stream and suddenly computers become a botnet or something of the like that plagues Windows computers. It's called a Web of Trust. Ubuntu packages are done the same way as Debian, after all, Debian and Ubuntu use the same package format (debs instead of RPMs), even though that APT (Advanced Package Tool), which started on Debian and therefore uses debs, has been ported to RPM-based Linux systems like Fedora and the like. (I think in Fedora, it's called yum.)
It's not impossible to turn a Linux system into a network of bots, but you damn well have to know what you're doing, because to make changes to Linux systems, you have to know the root (superuser--also known as "Administrator" on Windows systems) password or have sudo (temporary root) privileges. I remember last year that there was an iWork Trojan for Mac OS X computers that installed spyware on a Mac. It was a fully-functional copy of iWork, but it was poisoned in a way that ran another installer silently in the background that made it call home base and to call to install more bots into a Mac. But it only affected illegal copies of iWork downloaded over Warez sites, it didn't affect legal copies of iWork purchased from Apple or from an authorized Apple reseller. (No, I didn't download it when I had my Mac mini. I was using NeoOffice [a version of OpenOffice.org made exclusively for Mac OS X that used the native OS X interface, the "official" OpenOffice.org for Mac OS X had to have the X11 Windowing System installed] instead.) But the poisoned iWork program assumed root privileges automatically without the user's intervention (yes, OS X is based on Unix, and so is Linux, after all, OS X uses the Mach kernel, and has some FreeBSD blood in it) and made changes to the computer without the person using it knowing... until it was too late.
But back to the main topic of this discussion, I know that itsme might have to wait a *little* longer to get my money order, because when I put my envelope in the slot to get mailed out, the mailman had already came by and delivered the mail, and since it was already 2 PM December 31st (I had some lunch and was trying to find my iPod Touch so I could listen to some tunes and to use Safari to find the PM itsme sent me with the address to mail the payment to), so the mailman will come this morning and pick up my envelope and it will be on its merry way. Just so you'd know, itsme, just in case if it isn't there yet.
I had already calmed down Daphne and now she accepts that it might take some time for Sarah to come home, but I'm trying to shoot for at least the middle to end of February. I wouldn't be too surprised if Sarah arrived on the same day that Nicki (may she rest in peace) arrived or one or two days before or after that. But I checked my pay schedule and I get paid again on the 15th and the 29th of this month, so 19 business days, assuming that the check would arrive in itsme's mailbox three or four mailing days after the 29th, would be about the beginning of March, but that's just an estimation. And I said that I will be paying the other half over the rest of the month, one half of the remaining half on the 15th and the rest on the 29th. Hey, I'm just doing it to please my Daphne.

Well, the first payment has been sent off and is now in the hands of the postal service. And... it seems like I might have Sarah sooner than I had originally thought. Kat and I are working out the details as Wii speak (Yeah, we were discussing this while we were playing Wii Sports bowling co-op, don't mind my bad puns) and she might help me out with payment of the last half for Sarah. How much and if I have to pay her back if it is a loan, we will discuss on our own and not here.
Today, I went to the Walmart to get myself and the girls some things, but Kat told me to not to worry about getting her something, so I got myself three CD's, and Sarah her homecoming outfit: a Miley Cyrus/Max Azaria screen-printed T-shirt with a butterfly pattern and a Miley Cyrus/Max Azaria knit bottom. So I could please Daphne, I got her an OP hooded sweatshirt with an included tank top. I got the shirt and bottom in the same size that I would get for Daphne so she can wear it too. Right now Daphne's wearing her hooded sweatshirt and she loves the thing (she says Kat and I keep the house too cold, but if it's too hot, I have trouble falling asleep at night and so does Kat), while Sarah's homecoming outfit is still on the hangers in a separate part of the dresser so I don't "accidentally" put it on Daphne. (Don't worry, I'll wash them when I have absolute knowledge of when Sarah comes home, the few days before, so there's no dye transfer, because the knit bottoms are black.) In the subsequent weeks ahead, I'm going to get the girls some new underwear, socks and (hopefully) bras, well, bras for Sarah because I don't know if they make a bra big enough for a Candy's (Daphne's) 28C chest. And if it warrants, some spring clothes for the both of them.
Even though that I have only sent out one-half of the payment so far, with maybe the second half paid off in two weeks (I'm hoping, but if not, by the 29th of this month or the 3rd of the next), I can still relate to those who have sent out their orders for a doll of a higher caliber. I now know what it's like to wait for their sweetie. But I know, I'm only doing the layaway payment plan now, but once I get confirmation that my final payment has been received and my Sarah's being made, I would finally experience "THE WAIT." Not the "wait" that usually happens when you order a used doll from an established TDF member, but "THE WAIT" that happens when you order a brand-new doll. Oh well, there's a first time for everything... But when I get the shipping notification, I know that I will really experience the hardest part of "THE WAIT." But I also know that when she arrives safe and sound, I know that that part would be over and while all I have to do is crack open the tape, peel back the flaps and reel in awe about what I had finally accomplished.

Shi't... it's been two days since itsme told me that he had gotten my first payment and it feels like an eternity until the time I get my second payment to him... (But as long as the days do go at a steady clip, it would be fine, but I guess I'm starting to experience "THE WAIT" already...)
As long as I can soothe Daphne's nerves on her neverending anticipation of when her sister would be coming home, things would be okay, right? Think again. She is so impatient that it isn't funny.
But rest assured, I will be updating in this thread my progress. When Sarah is finally here, that will get a whole new topic of its own.

Over the weekend, Kat and I realized there was a dispute over the name Sarah, because when I told a neighbor who knows about Daphne that I was getting a new doll, and I announced the new name, his wife literally threw a shit fit, thinking that I named the doll after their daughter, which I did not. So, I went to baby-naming sites and had the Doll Matrix "Dolls Listed" page in two separate tabs, and while I was trying NOT to duplicate another doll's name, but I written out twelve possible names while keeping the same middle and last name intact, I handed a printout of the names list (the twelve names I chosen, not the "Dolls Listed" page) to Kat and asked her to mull over it while I took out the garbage.
After I came in from outside, Kat gleefully announced "Tiffany" as the doll's new first name. So, the new Taffy's name is Tiffany Nicole Holland.
While I might understand that this first name might be the same as another doll in the Matrix (I believe that it's someone's RealDoll, can't remember the body-face combo though), but I'm glad that Vanessa allowed duplicate names in the Matrix, even for dolls of a similar configuration, but that Tiffany is a RealDoll, mine is a RSSD Taffy.
It's starting to grow on me, but this time it's gonna take a little longer than the first name set I chosen. And I kind of don't know anyone with the name "Tiffany," except Tiffany Brissette of Small Wonder, but I've never met her before, and to tell a little story, my first doll Alexa had the middle name Tiffany, but since we know someone who has someone related to them with the name Alexa, and since my HVG that I had named Alexa was "murdered" (destroyed by someone who knew that I was dating a RG and deemed the doll unnecessary), I basically banned the name "Alexa" when I was naming Daphne anyway, and also the surname Tilbrook, but I had never banned the name Tiffany in any way shape or form. And anyway, what Kat says goes.
And this coming Friday, I'm going to get the remainder of the payment sent out to itsme so I can have her home sooner! I can hardly wait!

That sucks about your HVG. I don't recall reading about that in the past. Hopefully, since you are in a more private setting, in a place of your own, incidents like that will never happen again. It also sucks that your friend's wife reacted the way she did about a common name. She jumped to a very negative conclusion about you almost immediately, which is sad. But on a better note, hopefully your new addition to the family will arrive sooner than later.

Oh my! On the subject of daughters and Taffy name changes, I naturally changed artist69's Katlynn, to Eleeza, though her middle name is Katlynn. Kaitlyn is the name of my daughter... but that's not why I changed it though, just moved it over from her first name to her middle one. I wanted Eleeza and couldn't come up with a middle name, so I thought it'd be perfect to just move over the one she already has some. Holy smokes that's fast! When it comes to getting a new RSSD, somehow we come up with the money, somehow!
Great news to hear, CGB. You have a nice thread started here, kind of like how when I get a new doll, as soon as I purchase one, I immediately create a thread all about her. I like to keep my dolls and their stories and photos organized here, and not create a new thread every single time I take a photo of a dollie in something different, or I'd totally fill up page after page in the RSSD forum.

Oh, it's been over three years ago, so it's not that bad on me, in fact in retrospect, I started to heavily modify that doll (but didn't finish) to wear clothes and she was falling apart anyway. But at least he should have let me have Kat's approval or disapproval of the doll FIRST before he did that. narcissus wrote: casperghostboy wrote: And this coming Friday, I'm going to get the remainder of the payment sent out to itsme so I can have her home sooner! But at least I started a pretty good thread here so I can at least talk about it, but the way I do it, I start an entirely new thread when my doll arrives, because I don't take that many pictures of my dolls anyway, but I might take a few arrival pictures when Tiff comes so to commemorate the event. But as I said before, I wouldn't be too surprised if she comes on or around the day that my 1PC Nicki did, because I have estimated that 19 business days after itsme receives my money order for the final payment (assuming three or four mail delivery days when I mail it out) would be about the middle week of February, and the 18th of February was the day I received Nicki from the FedEx driver. And that is basically the week of Valentine's Day or something. uch wrote: It also sucks that your friend's wife reacted the way she did about a common name. Yes, and we were at once good friends with them. But since his wife is overprotective of their daughter, and since she's an immigrant from Italy, I guess it's natural for her to be that way, because English is not her first language, and it's hard for her to understand a basic US English conversation without having to oversimplify things. And I even told them that I got the name Sarah from one of Kat's friends, not from their daughter, which is spelled Sara and not Sarah, but I guess things get lost when trying to understand basic English. And she even withdrew her daughter back from us when I said that.
And I just re-checked the Doll Matrix and found two dolls with the name Tiffany, and they are not RealDolls. One is a Orient CandyGirl that is a 140cm Petit Jewel Mayu and the other is a RSSD Cherry. So I guess there would be two RSSD's with the name Tiffany, one of them would be mine, and mine would be a Taffy. So, if anyone takes offense to the name Tiffany, my defense would be that I got it from the name of the actress that played both Vicki and Vanessa on Small Wonder, Tiffany Brissette. I remember one time in chat that Wildcard2007 linked me to a blog that had Tiffany Brissette (it was a "Washed Up Celebrity" blog), but since I tried to install another flavor of Linux, trying to triple-boot but totally messed up my Ubuntu partition, and had to re-install Ubuntu, I lost the link. But anyway, Kat helped me choose the name Tiffany because it sounded "just right" with the middle name Nicole and the last name Holland, and I agreed. As I said, it's starting to grow on me, and last night I spent a while sounding it out to myself until it "clicked." Now it's starting to grow on me a bit more.
Oh, and like Daphne, Tiffany wears glasses too. I got her a pair from the drugstore last week (with a PSN prepaid card) so I'll have them ready when Tiffany arrives pretty shortly.

Well, as of 12:30 EST, the final payment for Tiffany has been placed into the mail carrier's sack and is on it's way to itsme... now "THE WAIT" begins! Well, I would really consider the payment receipt confirmation PM from him to start the clock, but now I consider NOW to be the start of "THE WAIT!"
I have been waiting for this day to come so I could get the money order sent out, but I've been asleep since 4:30, 5 PM yesterday afternoon because I've been up the night before drinking some concoction made of Coke, brewed espresso and Hershey's chocolate syrup. Keeps you up, alright, but beware of the effects the day after. Let's just say that you, the toilet and something to read would be good friends for the first few hours of the next day. So, the next day (this morning), I got up, got dressed and went to the Wawa to get a sausage biscuit, two of them, without egg and cheese (they come with those as a default, but you can ask for one or both to not be included), a 44-ounce root beer and Kat a Propel vitamin-enhanced water, and the money needed to finish paying for Tiffany. Right after my two biscuit sandwiches were done (one for me and one for Kat), I paid for my purchase and hightailed it to the grocery store. Well, the customer service desk wasn't open yet (I was about 10 minutes early), so I strolled the aisles looking for something, while keeping a track on the time, so when the customer service desk was about to open in about three minutes, I grabbed a four-pack of wine coolers (Pina Colada flavor) and went right to a open register and bought my wonderful alcoholic beverages, and also a book of postage stamps.
I went right to the customer service desk, but I was about a couple of minutes too early. So, I waited until someone was available to help me, and bought my money order right there, and after the transaction was finished, I folded the money order at its perforation (it comes in two parts: one is the actual monetary instrument, and the other is the receipt and claim form [not that I need it of course, but glad to know it's there]), stuck it in my back pocket and walked home.
Now after I had found out that the mail has been picked up, it is starting to feel like even the hours are just dragging along! So, I guess this is how most doll owners feel when they had just sent out their payment for their doll... I have only bought used dolls before (except my mannequin, but that didn't have to be made, crated/boxed and then shipped, she was waiting in a carton in a warehouse waiting to be shipped), so I really don't know what to expect or how to feel when something like this happens. I guess there's a first time for everything.
I am REALLY excited that another doll is on her way home, and I have already stated that I had to get rid of one just to get another. So, to pay tribute to her, we have allowed the other doll's first name (Nicole) to be Tiffany's middle name. It was the least Kat and I could do.
All I can say now is... Bring on THE WAIT. I'll handle it as best as I can... hopefully.

That was certainly fast! I'm happy for you! Good for you!
Now you are going to experience the wait first hand. I guess after all this time, even if you have Daphne and a RG, it's not going to help much with the wait! Hang in there. In the beginning of the wait, it's not too bad, until the second week and a half or so, knowing that she might be here any day now. Looking outside all the time at every truck noise, at least that's what I do. My dollies get all excited, until the mail delevery people aren't carrying a big brown box, then we know it's going to be yet another day. Getting tracking info on your dollie helps, but then also adds more, when you know the expected date, for the day before and that day are intense.
