I never thought it would happen but today I picked up my first Realdoll, and she's rather special. :) She's Kharn's Sabrina, a Body 2, head 4 and what makes her special is that according to the Doll Matrix she was delivered in October 1998, making her possibly the oldest RD still around.

Image

Being such an early model she doesn't have a poseable skeleton or finger wires so she's rather floppy and can only sit or lie down for photos. I'm sure I'll get used to the weight but luckily I still have my Mum's wheelchair which helped getting her into the house.

Although she is showing her age in places its clear that Kharn has taken great care of her over the years. The silicone is lovely and soft and she has great legs, I had to keep stroking her thigh on the way home. :D

Image

Her breasts are nice and soft too. :D

Image

I should be able to have a better look at her in the next day or two and take some more pics. I'd like to thank to Kharn for giving me the opportunity to look after what I consider an important piece of doll history. 8)

Exactly what happens to the skeleton over time. Does the metal become bendable or something?

Congratulations, Ursa. I just hope your TBs don't get too jealous.

I think non-poseable just means that the original skeletons won't stay in the position in which they're placed, i.e. the joints are designed to bend, but the combination of gravity and the silicone's neutral position prevent them from staying how you put them without some sort of external resistance. Is this correct?

Congratulations! The only other 1998 doll I know of is Perry's Sarah, assuming she is still around. However, I heard she had accumulated serious damage. (That was several years ago.)

Sabrina was made two years before my Rebecca.

Nothing happens to the skeleton except the joints gradually become looser. (The bones are PVC tube.) However, the tin-cured silicone rubber becomes softer and more fragile. (Today's platinum-cured silicone does not age in that way -- so I am told -- and owner experience seems to bear that out thus far.)

Whoa, this was unexpected! Congratulations, Ursa; you've got yourself a special beauty with Sabrina there. Kharn is just an excellent "national resource" when it comes to the big dolls!
But just how many women can you accommodate at your house?? :o

How curious; all the blue seems to have gone from her eyes to her fingernails.
(She seems to be contemplating that at the moment, relaxing there on the couch.)

At any rate, things'll sure be interesting from here on out!

Firstly a big congratulations Ursa_Major is was nice seeing you again yesterday :D

I'm glad your happy with Sabrina and that she has gone to a good home. She is probably one of the oldest RD's in the world outside of Abyss. She has a few marks but for a 14 year old doll, well I think as you can see from the photos, she has stood the test of time

You now have a piece of doll history. :)

Here she is as Wonder Woman back in 2000

Once we get the old archive back up you can link to her old photos from way back before TDF. Back in the days of the Realdoll Owners & Lover Club. In the meantime, here's a blast from the past of her 2002 appearance in CoverDoll :plaidskirt:

Many congratulations Ursa. :D Sabrina couldn't have found a nicer guy to take care of her. :) I'm so pleased for both of you. :)

You seem to have not only got a tremendous new girl but some doll history as well. :) Thanks for the pics Kharn Sabrina looks ace, especially in her wonder woman outfit.  And outstanding in her Coverdoll shoot. :D

Good luck Ursa I'm sure you're both going to be overjoyed with each other and we're all looking forward to her pics, when you can get some done. :)

Can an old doll with loose joints go into this kneeling position? It is almost like sitting after all, and the joints do not have to hold position at the knees.

Thanks for the comments everyone. She does look good in the Wonder Woman outfit and yes, she will be at the UK Meet, all being well.

I seem to have formed an emotional bond with her already as I missed her when I was at work today. When I got home I carried her from one room to the other for the first time which I was pleased with as in the morning I'd moved her in the wheelchair.

I decided it was time for her to have a new look as although the wig she came with brushed better than any wig I've had before I thought it looked a bit old fashioned so I tried Lois's wig on her. I decided to change her outfit too as when I was sitting in my chair, every time I looked across at her she was flashing her knickers at me. (Maybe she was trying to tell me something. )

I found a blouse and skirt for her and took her dress off. As she doesn't have a neck hook this was hard work and we had to have a break half way through. :D

Image

She might be getting on a bit but she's still got it. :D

After a break during which I gave her a quick once over it was time to get her dressed. This was even harder than getting her undressed and by the time I'd finished I was hot, sweaty and out of breath. She does look nice in her new outfit so it was worth it.

She looked a bit tired too.

I have to say that since Sabrina has been with me I've gained an insight into how much work goes into the setting up of photoshoots with silicone dolls, especially those with multiple dolls. 8O

The only problem I have now is I keep wondering what a new RD would be like compared to Sabrina. :D

Good to se she's settled in Ursa. :) Life is an on-going learning process with dolls, but you soon get to know what's best and what's not. Not having a neck hook doesn't help, but it's not the end of the world. :) And pics aren't easy but still looking forward to any you take and post. :) As long as you're both happy. that's the main thing. :)

BTW I hope she Sabrina likes Vampires!!?? 8O

Nice new photos my friend :D

I'm so happy that your happy with her. The older dolls are a little harder work than the new dolls, especially when it comes to dressing them. However their worth it :)

I love her new wig and outfit, it really suits her :)

Keep taking the photos

The wig does make a difference to her. The one she arrived in, while good quality, did remind me of something from the '60s or '70s.

I noticed this morning that one of her fingers was damaged, probably during the change of clothes. :( I don't want to risk making the damage worse so there may not be any new pics until she's repaired.

I think a repair kit will be on the cards in the very near future as I want to keep her in as good a condition as possible.

She hasn't met any of my other girls yet so she doesn't know about the Vampire. :evilbat:

Fingers are so easy to pop. But on the good side they're easy to repair as well. :) So nothing to worrry about. :) Maybe put a pair of gloves, mittens, over her hands when you dress her. :)

I don't know who's going to get the biggest surprise when the girls do meet up!! 8O
