Water in the neck

Post by melenerj »

While showering my WM 166C, the stool slipped resulting in the plastic bag covering her neck to fall off and me pointing the handheld showerhead directly onto the neck bolt area. The neck bolt area filled up with water, and I immediately turned my doll upside down to get the water to pour out. I used paper towels to absorb as much water as I could, but water definitely managed to get into the skeleton.

I placed a silica packet into the neck cavity, covered the top with a ziploc bag, and used a rubber band to seal the ziploc to her neck. I hope the silica will absorb any water that managed to escape into the skeleton.

Is there anything else I can do to lessen the chances of the skeleton rusting? Would dripping WD40 down the neck bolt area help?

The skeleton should be ok but any hinges will probably get a little brown
Once you has absorbed as much water as possible with your current setup, look at pumping air as far down the neck area as possible to thoroughly dry everything
It should blow any remaining moisture back out of the top of the neck :)
