Re: Veins and implants
Generally i love the fact of dolls having veins, but even the professional veining is sometimes over the top to my taste.

Re: Veins and implants
Thanks a lot! 4891D! I was just getting ready to takeoff some of the Viens that I'd put on the one eyelid. I'm getting ready to do the other one, After sleeping on it I think that the veins may be a little bit too much as well.4891d wrote:On the picture the vein pattern is very good.
On the sides, the color is realistic. In the center, I find it a little too strong (or else it would take a woman with very light skin, almost albino). In my opinion, a slightly lighter thread would be even better.
In any case, these veins add a lot to the realism. More than I expected.
I was not however, aware of the coloration. Astrid was bought with extra light skin, but when I received her she's got more of a natural color I think. So go darker on the eyelids?

Re: Veins and implants
In my opinion, there are two ways to soften the color of the veins: either take the thread deeper (but this must be more technically complicated) or take a lighter thread (a shade of 'old pink' - "vieux rose" - perhaps).

You could try to find the same shade or use an eye shadow that gives a warmer color than pink.

Agreed!4891d wrote:The veins look good. In my opinion the shade of the skin on the eyelids is a little too pink compared to the rest of the face which has a slightly more orange shade > I think it's called peach color.

I think I'll try to add warmth with some flesh toned acrylic paint. Thank you for your input!

Re: Veins and implants
In the interest of keeping this thread somewhat alive I thought I would share some thoughts. When you're doing the veining on the eyelids, one, it's important to use a glue that will dry clear. Overtime the glue I used for Astrid's eyelids yellowed and had to be replaced. Luckily for me I hadn't done any clearcoat over the top yet and it was an easy thing to do.
On the subject of clear-coat, there are two basic types that can be used.
One is clear acrylic nail polish, two, clear acrylic paint. Both will do an OK job.
Let your eyelid sit for a few days and then take a look at them again once to color sets.
If you think it needs tweaking you can use the clear acrylic,(whether it be paint or polish), mixed with a bit of pigment to either tone down, or liven up your eyelids. just had a small amount to the clear to give you the tint, or Hue that you are looking for.
When doing the eyelids your'e really only doing capillary blood vessels.
So you have to use very light (thin) thread. The best way to do eyelids, is to take a single piece of thread (regular sewing thread) and split it in half. Normally what I get is two pieces intertwined to make a single strand of thread.
Once you've separated those two pieces take one piece, and start separating individual fibers. They will seem thinner than hair, but this is what you need. Anything thicker and it's going to be too overpowering on an eyelid, you're not actually supposed to see them, your subconscious just knows they're there and it adds a bit of realism.
Of course you'll know they're there… Because you're applying them.
In the photos I've shown a thick piece of thread (taking from a 1/12 scale red Sonja ax handle), A piece of normal sewing thread, a piece of the sewing thread, the strand split into two, and then individual fibers from that single strand. Lastly there's a double strand knotted to a single strand (looks like a tree branch) and then another strand that is split in half and split again into individual threads just to show you the difference in circumference of the various sizes of thread. The thinnest strand actually stretched because the very thin fibers started to pull from one another longitudinally.
Lastly, Another set of eyelids that I had completed today. First one completed (five minutes work) and the pair.
If you're curious how I did Saoirse's boobs, brachial, carotid, or femoral veins let me know. It doesn't seem like there's a lot of interest in this topic.

Re: Veins and implants
I was just plugging Saoirse's monkey, and in between sessions I worked a little bit on her tits.
I also I wanted to show what the vein looks like if it starts to come back through the skin. This happens if you don't seal it with primer after you implant the thread. It's simple enough to just pull it out, seal the hole, and do it over again.
Anyway here are some pictures of Saoirse's Blessed neck n' titties.
John
PS. Let me know if you think there's too much vein in her titties if you would? I'm so used to looking at them… It really doesn't look out of the ordinary to me at this point. Plus she has really! translucent skin/flesh.

Re: Veins and implants
information here. I look forward to trying
some of your techniques on one of my
ladies and if I do it well maybe trying it on
my others too. Some ladies have a lot or
a little, we get to give them the amount we
like this way. Just saw a Casey James,
90s big breast star, she has a good amount
of veins in her tan breast.
I'm thankful for your efforts in this area.
I look forward to more please.
Thank you very much and have a great day.
