How to embed picture and link in your signature ?

Post by rentell »

Please could anyone explain how to embed picture and link in your signature as I used to have ?

the picture is this one ......

http://www.dollforum.com/modules/copper ... umb_av.JPG

And the link to my album would be

http://66.228.125.58/dollgallery/index.php?cat=10008

I would like to be able to click the picture to open the album.

I have tried lots of options but cannot get it to work properly, welcool got it working for me last time but did not explain the "how to" so if any one could help I would be most grateful.

Cheers.

Thanks for your help Alex
I copy and paste the profile into the sig box but it does not all seem to go in and looking at my sig in a post you can see that it does not come out complete therefore it does not show up.
Puzzling.

Any further ideas please.

Our signatures are limited to a total of 255 characters. I can see in your last post that The URL is being chopped off after the J in.JPG, but you don't have that many characters. :x I have the link in my sig but if I use too long of a quote at the beginning it truncates my URL. It looks like Alex has posted a space after the .JPG but before the closing quote. Try removing that space. HTML codes also qualify towards the character limit. You can probably get by without the < br > at the end of the part Alex posted as well. Carriage returns count as characters too by the way.

Good luck!

The strange thing is, I added the same text to my signature, and it worked for me... the text isn't 255 characters long either, it's about 210 or so...

Also, check if it says HTML is ON in the signature part.

Edit: I noticed a little something: There are 2 places to add a signature.

Through "Your account" and then "Your info". But you can also change it in a different way by clicking on "Profile" at the top of each thread.

If I add the text in Your Info, it won't work for me, but if I add the same text in "Profile", it works fine.

So, go here: http://www.dollforum.com/modules.php?na ... ditprofile

Thanks very much guys for the replys, Alex has solved the problem as the link now works fine,.

Perhaps I could of tried adding the extra characters manually but then it worked fine in the "profile" so leave well alone till next time

But it only works for users who are logged in. For everyone else, HTML is not rendered. Instead, we just see the text and HTML code. (Everhard tells me he reported this bug yonks ago, but I guess its cause is too obscure to track down and fix.)

Instead, I recommend using BBCode, which works for everyone (as far as I know):

[ url=http://66.228.125.58/dollgallery/index.php?cat=10008][ img]http://www.dollforum.com/modules/copper ... umb_av.JPG[/img][/url]
-- but you need to remove the spaces after the first two opening square brackets [ that I added in the quote to prevent it being rendered. Like so:

That's great. Just one bug accidentally introduced by Simund. He also added a space after the first colon and before the word wink so you see : wink: instead of .
