Painting Dolls

No matter how great your camera might be, it is how you apply your skills that makes the difference between an OK shot and a great shot. Here you can talk technical, talk creative, share your techniques, lighting, and digital editing. This is where we can all help each other to take better photos.
If you post a photo here and are looking for a critique, you should be prepared for honest criticism even if it hurts. It will only help to make us better photographers.

Eye of the beholder, of course, and just as in life, there’s always a prettier girl right around the corner. But I suspect you’d have to turn a lot of corners before you find one.

Thanks for your compliment and visit!

Beautiful work, Treepusher. I thought I'd start modestly with a pencil sketch of my Sandy.

Sandy isn’t tall (155 cm) but she has a big personality and towers over her 1/6 scale sisters. None of them will ever admit they are dolls.
For more photos of Sandy and her sisters check out their thread: "Sandy's Enchanting World" in the Eye Candy forum.<viewtopic.php?t=154188>

Those are really well done.

Are you taking the pictures and applying the filters "only" or are you doing manual touch ups too?

Thanks, NoTime. Glad you like them, and appreciate your visit!

There are multiple steps for these, and manual touch ups are necessary to fix lighting/glare/hotspots, coloring, makeup, background blurring and other incidentals. The filters are quick and easy, but touching up the image takes at least an hour to do.

Thank you once again, Philippe. My OCD is getting the better of me, as I can’t spend a day off doing something useful, no, no—I spend them hunting for new outfits for milady!

And then of course we have to try them out, dress her in them, see how she looks, and that means photos, and that means off to computer for some painting.

My work is never done *sigh*

Thanks again for your kind words and visit—always appreciated!
