For everyone who has trouble putting a picture in a post, I've made an Instruction video.

It will show you how to copy the location, and how to show the picture in the post.

It can be seen here:
In the video, I right-click on the picture to get to the properties.
Notice the picture location ends with JPG, this shows it is a picture.

I've tried to keep the filesize as small as possible for our dial-up members.

Added by Bianca to keep it here at the top :)

Standard posting of images using BBCode does not allow photo resizing but works as follows:

Code: Select all

[img]http://www.dollalbum.com/dollgallery/albums/userpics/10405/normal_bianca_recording_014.jpg[/img]
Be sure to left click on the photo and with IE select properties and copy the photo URL. With Firefox you need only right click on the image and select "copy image location"

Simply highlight the URL you copied and then click the IMG button.

Good point, as you have to allow for the rest of the page and column display as well. Mind you, although the most common screen resolution was 1024w in 2006 it has increased to 1280 and wider. The introduction of Netbooks and notebooks has pushed that down a bit and there is a large base using 1024 not than anticipated (as high as 25%).Therefore, 450 to 640 are ideal for post displays.

MrGrey wrote:Use html and the width parameter.

Instruct all users to use html code, and show an example with the code needed to post a picture with a link.
Set the width parameter to eg 400 in the example.
phpBB3 no longer supports HTML coding so we added some image options to the BBCode.

This is what I do.

Far better to attach your photos directly to your post so they will always be with your post if your gallery changes. The attachment photos automatically resized to 600 pixels wide and when you click on them you get the original size.

However, you can also place the photos in your gallery and link to the medium size photos that are generated. In our new forum software you will be able upload photos directly with your pots so they will never end up with a bad link. In this case it is best to resize the photo.

Here are BBCodes you can use to resize your larger linked photos for display here:

Code: Select all

[img600]http://www.dollalbum.com/dollgallery/albums/userpics/10405/normal_bianca_recording_014.jpg[/img600]

And for an added bonus you can set a border :)

Code: Select all

[iborder]http://www.dollalbum.com/dollgallery/albums/userpics/10405/normal_bianca_recording_014.jpg[/iborder]
You can use this method to set smaller thumbnails and that link to the unsized photos as well:

Code: Select all

[imgthm]http://www.dollalbum.com/dollgallery/albums/userpics/10405/normal_bianca_recording_014.jpg[/imgthm]

Code: Select all

[thumb]http://www.dollalbum.com/dollgallery/albums/userpics/10405/normal_bianca_recording_014.jpg[/thumb]

Hope this helps. It's not necessary to understand...just copy and paste :)

No problem crazybigbuttlover, but just to remind you, the Member Gallery is not for Doll Galleries, that's what the Doll Album is for.

Thank You

Thanks Alex Knight. I found this the other day and was able to post my first picture because of your video. Unfortunately, when I decided to cancel my membership with photobucket, they decided to remove my one and only picture. I tried to find your video again to refresh my memory but for the life of me I couldn't remember where I had found it. Luckily enough of the information was still rattling around in my head and after a number of tries I was able to post my "first" picture again today. Being self taught, it can be frustrating finding ways to do things when you don't even know were to begin. Your video continues to help us newbies and I hope it remains a sticky for a long, long time. I will do my best not to use this knowlege to break any rules.

I put my instruction video on Youtube, instead of photobucket, so it plays in the thread.
