Don the Creator of Ruby 13 1939-2013

I just wanted to let everyone here on TDF know that Don was not feeling well over the past couple months.
His doctors told him he had pneumonia but it wasn't until last week that he was transferred to
a much finer hospital and a doctor found the true issue. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
He asked me to tell his friends here how much he would miss you and his wonderful chats with
you on the phone over the past few years. He truly loved our business, customers and the creations he
shared.

He passed away today at 4pm with his family around him. He was more than just my
father, he was a great friend. I appreciate your friendship with him as he talked about you often.

Cheers

Jim (Brash)

A great loss to the doll community. His talent, creativity, intelligence, humor, and true dedication to this hobby was his greatest legacy.
Don was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. My deepest condolences go to you and your family.
His presence will be sorely missed. Ciao Don.

My condolences to you and your family, as well as the Ruby13 "family". Don will be missed.

I regret that I was never able to meet him, as I was busy with family issues during the last L.A. meet.

Jim,
I am so shocked and saddened by this. Thanks for letting us know.
My only comfort at this time is knowing he had a great life as a
brilliant artist, and knowing that you and family were there for him
when he passed.
I am better for having known him; I wish I'd known him better.
I will truly, truly miss him. He was one of the coolest people I've
met.

Blessings to Don, and to you and your family.

I regret never meeting Don in person. I did enjoy the few posts we exchanged and reading his posts to other members gave me a feel for the man he was. Within his art works live the passion and perfection he sought to portray. Don's legacy is the joy he gives with every Ruby's smile, the twinkle in every Presley's eyes and the raw sensuality of all his girls. Many here share in your grief, Jim and wish you the best as you journey through the loss of your father and friend. Rest in peace, Don.

My condolences to you and Don's friends and family. As Matt said, there are no words really. I count my self lucky having met him in person, and finding both a great artist and person. I will always remember him telling me how much he loved discovering he could share his art in 3D as well as 2D later in life. You're never to old to learn something new or to live your passion. He will always be an example and inspiration for me. As you can tell he will be missed around here a lot. Rest in peace, Don.
