Most extraordinary OOAK I have seen.

Hello. For those who are not aware OOAK's, otherwise known as 'one of a kind' dolls have become a regular feature of the buying and selling over at ebay. Usually they are standard doll heads that have been stripped of their factory finish, and are then repainted by an artist to enhance their beauty or realism or both. The results vary from the mildly amusing to the sublime. However in the limited time I have been viewing these creations I have never seen one that took it to a whole other level. Then there was this one I saw this week.

A little more information. The artist who crafted this beauty is from South Korea. The doll was based on a Fashion Royalty Erin doll. It went at auction for approximately $565.00. And it's freakin' 12 inches tall!

Shazam! That is one incredibly beautiful face. Amazing the detailing and just craftsmanship that people can do. There are some unbelievable work done on 12" dolls and figures out there.

Varkeo's beauties are anime girls, they aren't supposed to be super highly realistic, thats part of their charm. What wowed me about this particular doll was that it was both totally beautiful and highly realistic. The only feature on the face that is not consistent with a real woman is the eye's are proportionately a little too large. When compared to the size of the whole face we humans have rather beady little eyes. Hence the use of eyeliner and eyeshadow.

Where do they get the nanites to paint these things? That looks better than my full sized doll!

I think your avatar has the right idea, only a even more powerful magnifying glass may be required. The funny thing is though all that wonderful detail is fully revealed through a macro lens, in person a lot of that minute detail may not be discernible. A 1/6th scale face is pretty darn small.

Here is another OOAK based on a Fashion Royalty doll by the same studio.

That last one reminds of Kim Bassinger in her prime (you know circa 1989, "Batman")… Which is to say utterly gorgeous.

Probably a single horsehair brush. I saw a video where someone was doing micro-painting using that technique.

Bjd dolls are in a whole different category my friend. I wouldn't compare them to my ooak miniatures though because they are between 40cm - 60cm. My miniatures too are painted by all kinds professional artists on ebay that I buy the heads from as well. Some of them too do bjd's and tonners which are okay at best, but nothing like this though. Unfortunately, my OOAK girls are not anime dolls, if anything my momoko fashion dolls are probably anime since they all come from Japan.

But I gotta admit though, the one's I have seen over on Deviant Art ARE insanely beautiful and gorgeous! This girl here is no exception she will fit right in with the bunch!

At one point in time I wanted to collect them but I just couldn't afford them. I have a pink wig on standby should I ever change my mind and get one. However, over on Deviant Art Still Life >> Dolls and Figures in the photography section, you will find A TON of beautiful bjd's that will rival these girls.

I had a friend over there on Deviant Art who started off with these types of dolls before he upgraded to real models.

I dig these dolls too and them eyes are to die for.
Check Out Eluts.com they got some great stuff over there my friend.

-Thanks for the share.

Thanks Varkeo. Cool! Deviant Art. Love that site. I will check out the other website also. And yes these dolls are a bit out of my price range as well.

Here is another OOAK from ebay. Enjoy.
