This has proven the best solution for us so far although we have, in the past, tried the table and bed idea. Old wardrobes, especially those shipped from England are very strong and very cheap. We bought one with 2 hanging closets on either side and drawers in the center. There is usually a shelf setting on strong wooden supports. Remove the shelf and put a metal bar across in its place with a hook to attach to the neck ring of the RD. The opposite hanging closet is for costumes and wigs and the drawers for incidentals. And these old units lock with the long key and are strongly held. They are almost impossible to open without the key. They are attractive pieces of furniture as well and do not arouse any suspicion. Can usually be found for 200 to 1000 depending on quality and carving. Almost any second hand store will carry these.
A long carved trunk at the foot of a bed served us well one time and should also be considered.
